Shrimp farmers "pump" capital for spring-summer shrimp crop

(Baohatinh.vn) - Shrimp farmers in Ha Tinh have boldly invested in production and renovated farming infrastructure with the expectation that the 2025 spring-summer shrimp crop will be successful.

After researching techniques in many localities, Mr. Dao Xuan Tinh (Yen Hoa commune, Cam Xuyen) decided to invest more than 2 billion VND to upgrade his shrimp farming facility according to the closed-loop 3-stage super-intensive farming model.

Mr. Doan Xuan Tinh said: “In harsh weather conditions, applying advanced shrimp farming processes is necessary to ensure a successful crop. Up to now, we have completed the construction of a nursery and commercial farming system with 12 dome houses on an area of ​​2 hectares; a systematic water storage and treatment pond system, meeting technical standards with an area of ​​over 2 hectares. Recently, I have released more than 2 million shrimp, expecting a yield of about 30 tons/crop.”

Intensive shrimp farming in 2 and 3 stages is being invested in by many shrimp farmers.

To ensure effective and safe farming, currently, 16 ponds, 1 nursery area and closed production infrastructure system of Long Van Seafood Joint Stock Company (Dong Vinh village, Mai Phu commune, Thach Ha) are invested synchronously and modernly.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc - in charge of shrimp farming at Long Van Seafood Joint Stock Company informed: "We aim for stable farming activities, high productivity and efficiency. For the 2025 spring-summer shrimp crop, the company has planted nearly 2 million shrimp and is focusing on early care so that the shrimp can grow well in the complicated weather conditions in March and April, with temperature and environmental parameters changing continuously."

Taking advantage of favorable weather, extensive and semi-intensive shrimp farming areas such as Xuan Hoi, Cuong Gian (Nghi Xuan); Ky Trinh, Ky Ninh (Ky Anh town); Thach My (Thach Ha); Ky Tho (Ky Anh)... are also focusing on completing pond renovation, ready to plant new shrimp crops.

With a farming area of ​​more than 2 hectares in the Ha Vooc farming area, Mr. Le The Lien's family in Phong Phu village, Ho Do commune (Ha Tinh city) plans to release shrimp in mid-April. Mr. Lien said: "Shrimp farming has been more difficult in recent years due to the complicated environment and many diseases. To ensure a successful farming season, every step must be prepared and implemented methodically and strictly. I have spent nearly 50 million VND to renovate the pond system, pour lime to disinfect the bottom, dry the pond, clean the surrounding environment, get a source of water for sedimentation and disinfection; replace some electrical systems, oxygen fans, machinery for production...".

Members of the Ha Vooc Aquaculture Cooperative (Ho Do Commune, Ha Tinh City) are also focusing on completing pond renovations to prepare for the most important farming season of the year. It is known that on an area of ​​over 40 hectares, the cooperative members plan to stock over 12 million white-leg shrimp and 1 million black tiger shrimp.

In the 2025 spring-summer shrimp crop, Ky Anh district strives to produce nearly 500 hectares of shrimp (white-leg shrimp and black tiger shrimp). Currently, farmers have basically completed the renovation of farming ponds, focusing on key farming areas such as Ky Thu, Ky Hai, etc. District-level specialized agencies are also focusing on guiding farmers to comply with technical processes, effectively manage the farming environment, properly treat input water sources and find reputable sources of shrimp. At the same time, regularly monitor the growth and disease situation of shrimp to promptly advise farmers.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Thanh - Vice Chairman of Ky Thu Commune People's Committee said: "The project to upgrade and renovate the aquaculture infrastructure of Ky Thu Commune has a total area of ​​33 hectares, including 2 aquaculture areas, Dam Ho and Ngon Rao, which have been completed. This contributes to creating synchronous infrastructure conditions for people to invest in intensive and high-yield aquaculture."

Mr. Nguyen Bui Thanh Son - Deputy Head of the Department of Fisheries said: "In the 2025 spring-summer shrimp crop, the whole Ha Tinh province is expected to produce over 2,250 hectares of shrimp with more than 800 million shrimp seeds. To prepare for the breeding work, the unit has established a working group to inspect the environment, collect samples of natural shrimp to test for pathogens and issue notices and recommendations to farmers; assign staff to stay close to the area to regularly guide people to renovate ponds in preparation for the new farming season. In addition, strengthen information and propaganda work, guide shrimp seed production, breeding, and trading facilities and shrimp farmers to comply with regulations on quarantine, veterinary hygiene, shrimp seed quality, production conditions, crop calendar, and disease prevention; review and introduce a number of quality seed supply facilities in the area to farmers".

By proactively preparing the necessary conditions, people in the province expect to have a bumper spring-summer shrimp farming season, contributing to achieving the goal of the whole province reaching over 17,000 tons of various types of farmed aquatic products by 2025.
