From 6pm on April 30, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City was still hot and humid, but people continued to flock to the city center to celebrate the holiday.
The roads leading to the city center such as Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Hai Ba Trung, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Tran Hung Dao… are crowded. Entertainment areas, shopping malls, and restaurants are also packed with people. Parking lots in this area are overloaded due to the large number of people gathering.
As the evening wore on, the flow of people continuously poured into the city center, becoming more and more crowded. Nguyen Hue walking street and Bach Dang wharf park were packed with people, while Ton Duc Thang street and Me Linh construction site, the section passing through the above area, were banned and restricted from vehicles, causing prolonged congestion on surrounding roads.
Ms. Tran Thu Hoai (living in Go Vap) said that the holiday lasted for many days but her family did not dare to go far due to the hot weather and many entertainment venues being overloaded.
“Tonight, Ho Chi Minh City is having fireworks so my family and I went to the walking street to have fun. Even though we went in the late afternoon, the weather was quite hot,” said Ms. Hoai Thu.
Mr. Dang Van Phong (living in Phu Nhuan district) also shared that tonight his family of four went to see fireworks to celebrate the country's reunification day. "My wife, I and my two children came early to play, mainly waiting for the fireworks tonight for the children to see. The children are very excited," said Mr. Phong.
To ensure the safety of people enjoying and watching fireworks in the Saigon River Tunnel area, from 7-9:30 p.m., many surrounding streets such as Nguyen Hue, Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Dong Khoi,... are closed to vehicles.
At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City also organized 4 low-altitude locations at Thao Dien villa area (Thu Duc City), Van Phuc urban area (Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc City), vacant land area lot N4-D6, Tay Bac industrial park (Tan An Hoi commune, Cu Chi district) and Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11).
