After examination and chest CT scan, doctors discovered a collapsed left lung, suspecting a foreign object in the bronchus. Immediately afterwards, doctors removed the foreign object, a corn kernel, from the bronchus.
According to doctors, foreign bodies in the airways are cases where foreign objects, which can be solid or liquid substances commonly found in life, enter the respiratory tract in the nose and mouth area from the larynx to the bronchi.
Foreign body inhalation is a common occurrence in everyday life. This is a daily accident that can happen at any age, in any condition or circumstance. One of the common cases is due to crying or laughing while eating or drinking. If not treated promptly, it can be life-threatening.
To limit the risk of foreign objects in the airways, many experts recommend that people should not laugh or joke while eating or drinking. Especially for young children, it is necessary to pay attention while feeding them. In addition, when suspecting choking on a foreign object, the child should be taken to the nearest medical facility for accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment, avoiding incorrect first aid procedures that can accidentally push the foreign object deeper, making the child's condition more dangerous.
