After performing a flexible endoscopy, doctors discovered a large foreign object in the middle third of the esophagus, obstructing the eating and drinking path. Recognizing that this was a complicated case of foreign body aspiration, the patient was ordered a rigid endoscopy for immediate intervention.

During more than 2 hours of surgery, the team of doctors successfully removed a large piece of chicken bone along with a 2.5 cm long lower incisor tooth. This is a rare case, with a high risk of complications if not treated promptly.

After the intervention, the patient was conscious, his health gradually stabilized and he continued to be monitored at the hospital. Thanks to the close coordination of the medical team and modern equipment, the surgery was safe, effective and without serious complications.

Prevent choking on foreign objects when eating and drinking

To reduce the risk of choking on foreign objects, doctors give some recommendations:

- Eat slowly, chew thoroughly, especially for children and the elderly.

- Remove bones from food, avoid eating bones that are easy to choke on such as chicken bones and fish bones.

- Regular dental check-ups, especially for denture wearers, to reduce the risk of tooth loss.

- Do not attempt to handle foreign objects with your hands or try to swallow more food to push the foreign object down.

- Go to a medical facility immediately if you have symptoms of foreign body aspiration for timely intervention.
