On October 11, Mr. Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson of the United Nations Secretary-General, voiced alarm about the aid situation in Gaza being at its lowest level in many months.
The World Food Programme reported that key aid routes into northern Gaza had been cut off, Farhan Haq told a news conference.
“No food aid has been delivered since October 1,” the UN secretary-general’s deputy spokesman said, adding that the main crossings into northern Gaza were closed and would be inaccessible if the situation continued to escalate.
“The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs once again calls on all parties to the conflict to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law, including to continue to take care to protect civilians and civilian facilities,” Mr. Farhan Haq said.
In this regard, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that the sudden evacuation order in northern Gaza has once again forced tens of thousands of vulnerable children onto the streets, warning that children are continuously suffering unprecedented suffering, horror and death.
