Artist Le Hoang Nghi plays Thien Tu in the play Kiep hoa trong thoi loi
- Reporter (PV): First of all, congratulations to artist Le Hoang Nghi on the recent Golden Bell of Traditional Opera title. Could you please share with readers about your fate in coming to the art of Cai Luong?
Artist Le Hoang Nghi: Talking about the journey to Cai Luong, it was like a destiny. It can be said that the ancestors gave Nghi a love and passion for this art form since childhood. Nghi's love for Cai Luong art was nurtured and nurtured in her family. At Nghi's house, everyone loved and could sing Cai Luong. The sweet songs, melodies, and close affection became an indispensable part of Nghi's childhood and "soaked" into Nghi without her knowing.
In 10th grade, Nghi's clip of singing vọng cổ for her teachers unexpectedly received a lot of attention and praise. That planted the seed of pursuing cải lương art in Nghi. Up to now, cải lương is her great passion, the path that Nghi decided to choose to stick with.
Nghi has officially pursued the art of Cai Luong for about 3 or 4 years now, which is not really that long, so Nghi thinks she must always be proactive in integrating and learning to develop herself. Currently, Nghi's journey to realize her dream is relatively smooth because she has received support from her family, friends, teachers and especially the audience.
Furthermore, the achievements from Golden Bell of Traditional Opera 2024 are like a solid foundation for Nghi's current path. It is both an honor and a motivation for Nghi to continue learning and making more efforts to contribute to the audience as well as develop her own career.
- Reporter: Why did Nghi decide to "join the army" in Long An?
Artist Le Hoang Nghi: Nghi's decision to join the Long An Cai Luong Art Troupe was also a special opportunity through the 2024 Golden Bell of Traditional Opera competition. At that time, Nghi had just graduated from the Cai Luong Actor major at Can Tho College of Culture and Arts and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh while participating in the 2024 Golden Bell of Traditional Opera. People's Artist Ho Ngoc Trinh suggested that Nghi work at the Troupe. Of course, Nghi had to seize the opportunity immediately.
Nghi always believes that "good land attracts birds". Long An Cai Luong Art Troupe has a long tradition, many generations of famous artists have grown up from the Troupe, being able to join the Troupe is a matter of luck and pride for me.
- Reporter: Although a young artist, in the latest play of the Troupe - Life of a Flower in a Time of Chaos, Nghi was chosen to play the main role. How did Nghi feel when she was trusted and given the responsibility?
Artist Le Hoang Nghi: Nghi was lucky that as soon as she joined the Troupe, she was assigned the role of Thien Tu in the play Kiep hoa trong thoi loi. That was the first time Nghi got acquainted with the professional cai luong environment, learning from the working rhythm to the coordination between actors on stage. There were many surprises, but fortunately Nghi received a lot of guidance and support from her seniors in the Troupe. In order not to let the collective down, Nghi tried her best, focused and tried to bring the audience the best performance, new and interesting experiences for fans.
- Reporter: As a young artist, belonging to the GenZ generation, what message does Nghi have for young people who are passionate about art and traditional culture?
Artist Le Hoang Nghi: If you love Cai Luong art in particular or traditional art in general, boldly pursue your dream through activities, projects, and competitions (Chuong Vang Vong Co is an example). The experiences and lessons learned on that journey will be the luggage and motivation for us to reach our passion!
- Reporter: Thank you, Artist Le Hoang Nghi!/.
