Warm and affectionate
In a house located along a concrete road in Hamlet 5, Nhi Thanh Commune, Thu Thua District, Mr. Nguyen Hung Son (a 1/4-class war invalid) slowly walked out to welcome guests, his eyes shining when mentioning the caring policies of the Party, State and locality for his family. “Not only me, many policy families in the commune are cared for and visited on holidays and Tet. In addition to the monthly allowance, we also receive gifts, support to build houses, and health check-ups. That affection is truly precious!” - Mr. Son expressed.
Long An - the land of "brave and resilient", through 2 resistance wars, has more than 30,000 martyrs, more than 12,000 wounded and sick soldiers and more than 5,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. In recent times, the work of "Repaying gratitude" has been implemented synchronously, deeply and widely by all levels, sectors and localities with practical and humane actions such as caring for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, taking care of housing, collecting remains, embellishing cemeteries and memorial steles, etc. Each incense stick, each lotus petal solemnly placed next to the graves at martyr cemeteries is a quiet but profound gratitude of the next generation to those who sacrificed their blood and bones for the Fatherland.
Linking policy with people's hearts
Ben Luc - the northern gateway district of the province has been doing a good job of "connecting policies with the people's hearts". In the socio-economic development strategy, Ben Luc always pays special attention to taking care of policy beneficiaries and beneficiaries. In 2024, the district allocated more than 28.16 billion VND in regular subsidies; implementing payments through bank accounts for nearly 96% of beneficiaries.
On the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27, in addition to organizing gifts for NCC from the central budget, the district also organized a delegation to visit and present gifts to 7 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (still alive and recently passed away in 2024), 13 seriously wounded and sick soldiers, and 12 typical policy households. In addition, leaders and former leaders of the province and district presented 50 gifts to families of NCC with the revolution. Each gift is worth 1 million VND including cash and necessities.
Ben Luc district pays attention to visiting and giving gifts to policy families and meritorious people.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, from the district to the communes, all organized visits, New Year greetings, and gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, seriously wounded soldiers, veteran cadres, etc. with a budget of 75 million VND. The gifts were not large but full of affection. Not stopping there, the district also actively mobilized the "Repaying gratitude" Fund of the province and district, reaching 264.79% of the target, equivalent to more than 2.1 billion VND.
Through that, 14 new houses were built and 10 houses of gratitude and Great Solidarity were repaired. Each brick and each corrugated iron roof is the result of the consensus between the government and the people. Secretary of the Party Committee of My Yen commune - Nguyen Quoc Hung shared: "Every year, in addition to fully implementing the preferential regimes and policies of the Party and State, the locality also mobilizes socialization to visit and give hundreds of gifts to policy families and NCC. On the other hand, the work of caring for housing for NCC families has always been of interest to the locality. Up to now, the commune no longer has policy families that are near-poor and poor households".
In the past, the district has also issued thousands of health insurance cards to the elderly and their relatives. Children of the elderly (who are receiving regular benefits or have passed away) studying at schools in the national education system are entitled to a one-time subsidy to buy supplies, books, and learning tools; exemption or reduction of tuition fees and other contributions. With the care and attention of the Party and the State, many families of the elderly have not only risen to develop the economy but also contributed to building new rural areas, passing on the revolutionary "flame" to the younger generation.
"Every year, on holidays and Tet, the locality mobilizes socialization and coordinates the organization of delegations to visit and give gifts to families of policy beneficiaries and NCC, striving to ensure that they are fully cared for in both material and spiritual life and have a better standard of living than the average of the people in the area. In addition, the Commune Youth Union also coordinates with sectors and organizations to carry out the movement of "Repaying gratitude", regularly taking care of works honoring martyrs, lighting candles in gratitude, etc. Thereby, arousing the feelings and responsibilities of organizations and individuals to join hands to take care of families of policy beneficiaries and NCC as well as implementing the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" of our nation". Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Duoc town, Can Duoc district - Lam Thi Ngoc Hue "My family is in difficult circumstances and is regularly visited and given gifts by local authorities at all levels and sectors. Promoting revolutionary traditions, my family always lives as an exemplary model, encouraging children and grandchildren to strictly follow the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws and policies." Love flows forever
In Thanh Hoa district - which used to be a revolutionary base, the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" has always been promoted in many practical and effective ways. Over the years, the district has closely linked policy implementation with caring for the lives of the NCC.
Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa District - Pham Tung Chinh informed: "The district not only implements well the subsidy payment policies but also focuses on creating livelihoods for families with preferential policies to develop sustainably; promotes socialization, mobilizes organizations and individuals to join hands to support the beneficiaries. At the same time, creates conditions for families with preferential policies and beneficiaries to access preferential capital to develop the economy and improve their lives".
Housing care for policy families and meritorious people is of interest to all levels, sectors and localities of Thanh Hoa district.
In 2024, Thanh Hoa district mobilized the "Repaying gratitude" Fund for more than 1 billion VND (reaching 251.7% of the plan). Non-cash payments reached nearly 100%. Particularly for the Lunar New Year of At Ty in 2025, thousands of gifts with a total value of billions of VND were handed directly to families with preferential policies and revolutionary contributors. Many new gratitude houses were also built, old roofs were repaired, and lonely situations were helped, giving the revolutionary contributors more strength to promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, becoming shining examples for future generations.
Caring for and taking care of policy families and beneficiaries is a noble gesture, demonstrating the morality of “When drinking water, remember its source” of our nation. Not only stopping at subsidy and preferential policies, each gift given in person, each house of gratitude built, each timely payment,... are all concrete expressions of deep gratitude.
Thereby, encouraging the spirit so that NCC and policy families have more motivation to overcome difficulties, continue to promote the revolutionary tradition of the family, contribute to building the homeland and the country to be increasingly renewed./.
