To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the People's Border Defense Day (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2024) and the 65th anniversary of the Border Defense Force's (BĐBP) tradition day (March 3, 1959 - March 3, 2024), on the afternoon of February 23, Tam Chung commune (Muong Lat) coordinated with Tam Chung Border Guard Station to organize the program "People's Border Defense Festival Day" in 2024. This is also the locality that organizes the festival.

At the festival, delegates reviewed the 65-year tradition of fighting, building and growing of the Border Guard force, 35 years of the People's Border Guard Day and reported on the results of 1 year of implementing the "People's Border Guard Day" and the "Movement for all people to participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security".
Tam Chung is a commune in the highland and border area of Muong Lat district, with a total of 891 households/4,398 people. The commune has a 7.347 km long border and 4 national border markers. In recent years, the commune has always paid attention to and strengthened its leadership and direction, promoting the strength of the entire political system in the cause of building, managing, protecting sovereignty, maintaining security and order in the border area; closely coordinating with Tam Chung Border Guard Station to propagate and mobilize people and forces to do a good job in building a national border defense.

In recent times, the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, local departments, branches, organizations and Tam Chung Border Guard Station have launched and widely deployed the movement "All people participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the new situation"; implementing the movement with the motto of focusing on the grassroots, being close to the people, and respecting the people. In the movement, many models and methods have appeared that have attracted the participation of a large number of people, such as: Model "The masses participate in self-management of border lines, national border markers and maintaining security and order in border areas", "Youth volunteers to protect border lines", "Border construction self-management team", "Self-management of security and order team", "Solidarity team to ensure security and order"... Thereby, 16 individuals representing 16 households have participated in self-management of 7.347 km of border lines, 4 national border markers; 8 self-management of security and order at the village level...
