NDO - During the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, the tourism industry nationwide is estimated to welcome and serve about 12.5 million domestic visitors, an increase of 19% over the same period in 2024. The number of international visitors continues to increase compared to the same period last year, while many provinces and cities record revenue of over a thousand billion VND.
This year's Lunar New Year holiday lasts 9 days, the weather during this period is quite favorable so tourism activities are vibrant and bustling in almost all tourist destinations across the country.
Tourists tend to choose famous heritage, spiritual and cultural destinations in localities such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Vung Tau, Hanoi, Mui Ne, Hoi An and Sa Pa. In addition, destinations in the northern mountainous region also attract many visitors from the south. The trend of independent travel, traveling in small groups and booking services at destinations continues to increase.
With careful preparation, many localities have attracted a large number of visitors. Notably, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed about 2.1 million visitors, up 16.7% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at about 7,690 billion VND, up 17.4% over the same period last year. The capital Hanoi is estimated to welcome 1 million visitors, up 6% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 3,530 billion VND, up 7.85% over the same period last year.
Quang Ninh is estimated to welcome 969,000 visitors; an increase of 21% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 2,665 billion, an increase of 71% over the same period last year. Ba Ria-Vung Tau is estimated to welcome 869,433 visitors, an increase of 27.09% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 558.4 billion, an increase of 23.78% over the same period last year. In addition, localities such as Khanh Hoa, Thanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Da Nang... also welcome a large number of tourists with soaring revenue.
Average room occupancy rates at some destinations reached high levels during peak days. Notably, Sapa reached about 90-95% and Kien Giang reached about 73.4%. In addition, many destinations reached quite high levels such as: Ho Chi Minh City estimated at 65%; Hue estimated at 63%; Phu Yen estimated at 62%; Da Nang estimated at 50%...
This year's Tet holiday also recorded a high number of international visitors in many localities. Accordingly, Quang Ninh is estimated to welcome 228,700 visitors, Da Nang is estimated to welcome more than 228,000 visitors, Quang Nam is estimated to welcome 157,000 visitors, Hanoi is estimated to welcome 142,000 visitors, Ho Chi Minh City is estimated to welcome 87,358 visitors...

The number of international visitors to Vietnam continues to increase compared to the same period in 2024 thanks to the effect of favorable visa policies, the right direction in restructuring the tourist market, and the efforts of businesses and localities in renewing products and promoting and advertising activities widely deployed.
On this occasion, major travel agencies such as Hanoitourist, Saigontourist, Vietravel, Benthanhtourist… have developed many new tourism products. With attractive programs and promotions, these products focus on exploiting regional advantages, linking development in the direction of “one route, many destinations”, diversifying services to increase revenue during Tet.
Notably, some localities with international seaports have organized to welcome cruise tourists during this period, such as: Da Nang welcomed the Crystal Symphony and Silver Dawn ships bringing 1,800 American and British tourists to visit destinations in the city; Quang Ninh welcomed 4 cruise ships Mediteranea, Celebrity Solstice, Silver Dawn and Crystal Symphony with a total of 6,000 passengers and 4,000 crew members...
In general, during the Lunar New Year 2025, tourism activities across the country were vibrant, with an increase in the number of tourists. Security and order at destinations were stable, tourism service providers complied with price posting, sold at the correct listed price, and ensured food safety and hygiene. Positive signals from the tourism market during the Lunar New Year opened up many expectations, creating momentum for Vietnam's tourism to continue to flourish in 2025.
