From early morning, Russian people gathered in large numbers on the main streets in the center of Moscow to admire the parade formation and military weapons and equipment. Traffic was restricted on the central streets to serve the rehearsal.

According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, more than 10,000 people and about 130 units of military equipment and weapons are taking part in preparations for this year's parade. In addition to soldiers, border guards, the National Guard and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, military cadets are also taking part in the parade.

Joining the crowd on Tverskaya Street, Mr. Evgeny Tserkovnikov, his wife and two children from Irkutsk came to Moscow to witness the Victory Parade on May 9 and visit the Russian capital.

Sharing with Nhan Dan Newspaper reporters, Mr. Tserkovnikov emphasized that May 9 is one of the main holidays in Russia. For his family, taking their children to experience the parade is necessary, so that the younger generation can feel the achievements of previous generations, thereby fostering love for the Fatherland and homeland.

As a Moscow resident and a regular observer of military parades, this year's parade still brought him and his family indescribable emotions. On the day of the rehearsal, he took his son to the center to feel the approaching holiday atmosphere and tell his son historical stories.

“It is wonderful that the parade continues. We must be happy, excited and proud of the feats of our predecessors in the fight against fascism,” said Mr. Evgeny.

As in previous years, the military parade on Red Square on May 9 will continue to be the main event attracting public attention. The parade is expected to start at 10 am.

Earlier, Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that soldiers participating in Russia's special military operation in Ukraine could take part in the parade. According to Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin will also speak at the ceremony.

Also on May 9, the whole of Russia will solemnly celebrate the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a day filled with pride. In addition to the capital Moscow, parades will also be held in many other cities in Russia. Previously, some regions in Russia announced the cancellation of parades for security reasons.

Victory Day, May 9, became a shining milestone in world history, the day of common victory of democratic and peaceful forces, especially the people and the Soviet Red Army, in crushing fascism.

Traditionally, many commemorative activities have taken place to honor the true values of the historic victory 78 years ago, to pay tribute to the great sacrifices of previous generations, and to educate younger generations about things that must not be forgotten.

According to a recent survey by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center, 65% of respondents consider Victory Day on May 9 to be the main holiday in Russia. New Year's Day is in second place. According to the survey, more than half of Russians support the country's foreign policy.

Earlier, representatives of the Immortal Regiment movement said that they would not hold a march in Moscow this year due to security concerns. Instead, other forms of protest would be organized, such as calling on people to fill out an online database of veterans, or posting photos of relatives who are veterans on car windows.
