Far Eastern Apparel Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park 1) optimizes the use of raw materials and continuously improves factory operations, creating a clean and safe working environment.

Dramatic transformation of industrial model

Currently, Binh Duong is focusing on transforming the existing industrial model into an ecological and high-tech industrial model. Industrial parks (IPs) such as Vietnam - Singapore, My Phuoc, Bau Bang are pioneering in building an environmentally friendly production ecosystem, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) with green standards. Many enterprises have invested in renewable energy systems such as solar power, circulating wastewater treatment, etc.

Typically, Apparel Far Eastern Co., Ltd. (Vietnam), Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park 1 (Thuan An City), specializing in garment manufacturing, has successfully applied and maintained the ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system, the ISO 45001:2018 occupational health and safety management system and the ISO 14064:2018 standard on greenhouse gas management. The company also implemented the 5S method (a method for managing and arranging the working environment) to minimize waste, optimize the use of raw materials and continuously improve factory operations, creating a clean and safe working environment.

Meanwhile, Wipro Consumer Care Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park 1), specializing in the production and distribution of personal and household care products, has applied international management systems such as GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001. In particular, since 2016, the company has eliminated PVC (a thermoplastic formed from the polymerization of vinylchloride) from its product lines, replacing it with environmentally friendly and easily recyclable materials. At the same time, the company strictly controls emissions and implements many community initiatives such as tree planting, garbage collection, and marine environmental protection.

Mr. Tran Thanh Quang, Head of the Provincial Department of Environmental Protection, said that Binh Duong is shifting its industrial structure based on innovation, attracting high-tech science and technology projects, innovation and high-quality human resources. With this goal, Binh Duong always focuses on harmoniously solving the problem of socio-economic development and environmental protection. From 2020 to present, Binh Duong has refused to accept 488/943 investment projects outside industrial parks because they do not meet environmental protection requirements. In addition, Binh Duong has issued a policy to support the relocation of polluting facilities from residential and urban areas. Thanks to that, Binh Duong not only maintains economic growth but also minimizes negative impacts on the environment, towards sustainable development.

Raising the bar for agriculture

In addition to industrial development, Binh Duong also focuses on protecting agricultural land and promoting high-tech agricultural models. Binh Duong encourages green agricultural development, balancing the economy and environmental protection, supporting farmers with capital, technology and reasonable land planning to develop production and protect natural landscapes.

In Phu Giao district, many farms apply new technology to increase productivity and reduce environmental impact. Specifically, the An Thai High-Tech Agricultural Zone of U&I Agriculture Joint Stock Company (Unifarm) in An Thai commune applies high technology in growing tissue-cultured bananas, green-skinned grapefruit, and melons. This model achieves after-tax profits of more than 4.5 billion VND/year. The company also cooperates with households to guide planting and product consumption techniques, strictly following technical processes, ensuring biosafety and environmental sanitation. Meanwhile, Bac Tan Uyen district stands out with the largest citrus fruit growing area in the province. It is worth mentioning the farm of Mr. Lam Thanh Thuong in Hieu Liem commune, on an area of 50 hectares, the farm sells an average of 5,000 tons of citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines, and grapefruits each year, produced according to VietGAP processes, ensuring quality and gaining market trust. Thanks to that, the farm earns a profit of more than 2 billion VND per year.

Mr. Thuong shared that in the past, local farmers grew fruit trees using traditional methods. He pioneered the application of new techniques such as digging trenches and planting beds to help control fruit production and prevent pests more easily. He also used the method of making trees bear fruit out of season by covering the rows of trees with plastic sheets, creating temporary drought for the garden, bringing high economic efficiency thanks to year-round harvesting and proactive supply to the market.

In particular, Bac Tan Uyen district is developing an eco-tourism model associated with agriculture. Many fruit gardens are open for visitors to visit and experience harvesting agricultural products, creating additional income for farmers, such as Sol Retreat farm, Mr. Lam Thanh Thuong's farm...

According to the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Binh Duong is focusing on developing crops and livestock with high economic value, reducing fragmented production and encouraging urban agriculture models combined with tourism, thereby improving land use efficiency. Currently, many farms in the province apply greenhouse technology, automatic irrigation systems, production according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, while focusing on organic agriculture, reducing the use of pesticides and reusing agricultural by-products.

Binh Duong orients the development of an ecological economy based on the resonance between industry, agriculture, urban areas and transportation. In particular, ecological industry develops on the basis of clean energy; ecological agriculture is associated with green living space along the Dong Nai River and Saigon River, forming a harmonious agricultural - urban ecosystem; smart transportation is built according to the TOD model (urban development oriented towards public transport development), connecting waterways and railways with modern means of transport, reducing environmental pollution and traffic congestion; green architecture and ecological housing become new architectural standards, in harmony with nature. In particular, science and technology play a fundamental role, leading the process of transforming the industrial ecosystem and developing a sustainable economy...
