For fresh and processed fruits, the EU is a market with large and stable demand. However, EU importers are very demanding and have established long-term supply sources with traditional partners such as South America and Africa. South American countries have advantages over Asia in terms of geographical distance, trade history, production costs, and competitive prices. Meanwhile, Vietnam's production scale is still fragmented, so the number of gardens that meet EU market standards is not much.
According to experts, to gain a firm foothold on the shelves of major supermarkets in the EU, Vietnamese fruits need to promote brand building, improve product quality and preservation to go the distance. Economic difficulties, hot weather and drought are greatly affecting the supply and quality of fruits. Therefore, achieving the target of exporting fruits and vegetables of 6 - 6.5 billion USD is not easy. Enterprises need to solve existing challenges to improve the position of Vietnamese fruits in the EU market.
