Enhancing national defense stature, strengthening international cooperation

DNVN - Senior Lieutenant General, Academician Nguyen Huy Hieu - Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Deputy Minister of National Defense affirmed that the 2024 International Defense Exhibition not only enhances the stature of Vietnam's defense but is also an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, share experiences and receive advanced technologies.

The 2024 International Defense Exhibition has officially opened, attracting the attention of more than 50 countries around the world, including many major military powers such as the US, Russia, China, Germany, India, Israel... This event is not only an important occasion to introduce and display achievements in the defense industry, but also has international stature, demonstrating Vietnam's strong rise in the defense sector.

Held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the exhibition is considered the largest defense exhibition in Vietnam to date. Participating in the exhibition are not only countries with strong defense industries but also many other strategic partners, affirming Vietnam's position in this field.

Attending the exhibition, Senior Lieutenant General, Academician Nguyen Huy Hieu - Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Deputy Minister of National Defense shared that the event not only contributes to enhancing the stature of Vietnam's national defense but is also an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, share experiences and receive advanced technologies.

“The exhibition contributes to strengthening international cooperation in the defense industry; sharing experiences, receiving and transferring technology. Helping Vietnam grasp advanced technology trends in the world to select, research, design, manufacture weapons and technical equipment to meet military requirements and tasks in the new situation.

Vietnam has been investing heavily in developing the defense industry, not only with the goal of self-sufficiency but also aiming to export products to the world," said Mr. Hieu.

General Hieu also emphasized the importance of promoting the Vietnamese defense industry brand. The exhibition is an opportunity for Vietnamese defense products to reach out to the international market, seek partners and cooperation opportunities. Thereby affirming the strength and potential of the Vietnamese defense industry.

The event affirms the transparency of Vietnam's defense policy. The exhibition is an opportunity for Vietnam to continue implementing its international commitment to the 4-no defense policy.

Accordingly, Vietnam pledges not to join military alliances; not to allow foreign countries to set up military bases or use Vietnamese territory to fight against other countries; not to ally with one country to fight against another, and not to use force or threaten to use force in international relations.

This is not only a defense event but also an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce its country, people and unique military culture. It is an opportunity to build trust, promote mutual understanding between countries, and contribute to building peace and cooperation for development in the region and the world.

Besides, the exhibition also has an important meaning in arousing national pride, enhancing trust and sense of responsibility of cadres, soldiers and people in the work of building and defending the Fatherland.
