Improve the cultural and spiritual life of coastal people

In recent times, all levels, sectors and coastal localities in the province have actively implemented many flexible and synchronous solutions to build a system of cultural institutions, preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics, organize traditional festivals associated with fishermen in coastal areas... Thereby, creating conditions for coastal people to participate in cultural and sports activities, promoting the improvement of the spiritual and cultural life of the people.

Improve the cultural and spiritual life of coastal people The cultural house of Hung Phu village, Hung Loc commune (Hau Loc) was invested in and built spaciously to meet the cultural enjoyment needs of the people.

Through an exchange with Mr. Hoang Van Sy, head of Hung Phu village, Hung Loc commune (Hau Loc), it is known that: Due to the nature of the work of coastal residents, which is to stick to the sea all year round, drifting on the river, facing big waves and strong winds, from there, extremely unique customs and beliefs have been formed, such as the custom of worshiping whales, organizing village festivals... thereby, expressing the desire to pray for the god of the sea to protect the people, to have peace, calm seas, and catch a lot of seafood. Along with that, many types of sports, folk songs, and folk dances associated with the folk beliefs of the residents have also been formed and developed such as: tug of war games, card chess, human chess... In recent times, the village has promoted propaganda work for people to actively preserve and conserve those cultural values. At the same time, mobilizing people to participate in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life"; mobilizing resources to build a system of cultural institutions. In particular, the village cultural house was built in 2019, with a total cost of about 3.6 billion VND, mainly from the mobilized social contribution of the people. Since its construction, the cultural house has played a good role as a meeting place and place for organizations and people; a place to organize cultural, artistic, sports, and entertainment movements, contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people.

Mr. Vu Van Binh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Loc Commune (Hau Loc), said: For generations, Hung Loc people have formed cultural identities and unique customs bearing the mark of coastal residents, all 6/6 villages maintain and organize village festivals. And despite the hard life of making a living by the sea, taking advantage of the free time, people in the commune actively participate in cultural and sports activities. Therefore, the locality has arranged land funds to build village cultural houses, playgrounds and training grounds to serve cultural activities. Currently, all 6/6 villages have cultural houses; the cultural and artistic movement has also developed strongly, every village has established an art and sports team, especially 3 villages, Tien Long, Phu Luong, Phu Nhi, have a Cheo singing team that operates quite effectively. The rate of cultural families in the whole commune is over 90%; the commune also always attaches importance to preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of coastal areas. From there, not only does it help enrich people's spiritual and cultural life, but it also gives them more confidence, a resilient mindset, to overcome all challenges, and to always stand firm at the forefront of the storm.

Hau Loc district has 6 coastal communes, including: Ngu Loc, Da Loc, Hoa Loc, Hai Loc, Minh Loc, Hung Loc. In order to improve the spiritual and cultural life of coastal people, in recent years, the Party committees and authorities in the district have promoted propaganda and mobilized people to preserve the cultural values ​​of coastal fishermen, especially the organization of traditional festivals. Pay attention to allocating resources for the restoration, embellishment and promotion of the value of architectures such as communal houses, temples, communal houses... In addition, encourage communes to mobilize socialization to invest in building a system of cultural institutions, playgrounds, training grounds for people to play and entertain... Thanks to that, up to now, the district has maintained many festivals of coastal fishermen, such as Cau Ngu festival (Ngu Loc commune), Duc Thanh Ca Temple festival (Da Loc commune)...

In Sam Son City, to improve the cultural life of coastal residents, the city's Party Committees and authorities have always paid attention to investing in building a system of cultural and sports facilities. Up to now, most coastal localities in the city have built a system of cultural houses and playgrounds to meet the entertainment needs of the people. In addition, the city has also devoted a lot of resources to the conservation, preservation and promotion of historical and cultural relics associated with the beliefs and customs of coastal fishermen. In addition, traditional festivals bearing the mark of coastal residents are also preserved and organized annually, such as the Cau Phuc festival (February 16 of the lunar calendar), the Cau Ngu - Boi Trai festival (from May 14 to 15 of the lunar calendar). Festivals are not only the beliefs of coastal fishermen but also an opportunity for people to encourage each other to stick to the sea, helping local people get closer to each other, thereby increasing solidarity in the community.

Thanh Hoa has a 102km long coastline, stretching from Nga Son district to Nghi Son town. Because life depends mainly on fishing at sea, it has formed extremely unique traditional cultural features, such as customs, folk beliefs, games, folk performances... Therefore, preserving and promoting those traditional cultural values ​​not only contributes to enriching the cultural heritage of Thanh Hoa but also improves the cultural and spiritual life of the coastal people; educates children about their ancestors' origins, and awakens the fine traditions of the nation.
