Recently, the selection results of the 2024 "Excellent Physics Talent Training" program of Peking University (China) were announced. Liu Jiayi - a 9th grade student at Chongqing No. 8 Middle School, China - was also on this list.
Liu Jiayi is the only junior high school student in the country to be selected this year. At the same time, he is also the first student from Chongqing to be directly admitted to Peking University in his third year of junior high school.
To be selected for the "Excellent Physics Talent Training" program and directly admitted to the Physics major of Peking University, Liu Jiayi had to pass a knowledge test, interview, and physical exam.

"The talent training program is very selective, so I was quite surprised when my name was on the admission list and I was accepted to study at Peking University. This March, I will begin my studies. Although I am a bit worried, I believe that my efforts and diligence will help me achieve good academic results," Liu Ka Yi shared.
Speaking about the male student, Mr. Chu - the teacher in charge of the physics team of Chongqing No. 8 Middle School - said: "Gia Diec has a great passion and love for physics.
Whether it was mountain climbing, dinner meetings or waiting for a flight, Gia Diec always carried a physics book with him and read whenever he had free time. He was willing to search and look up any documents to understand the nature of the problem.
Thanks to your efforts, you have achieved amazing results. I look forward to your future development."

Teacher Chu further revealed that he did not pay attention to the male student until after a lecture, Gia Diec came to him and said: "Teacher, I think the equation in the textbook is correct but the solution is probably not suitable."
After this incident, Mr. Chu found that Gia Diec was very special and paid more attention to him. In grade 9, the male student discussed issues related to Maxwell's statistical distribution with Mr. Chu and came up with some new ideas that surprised and interested the teacher.
Sharing his method of learning physics, Gia Diec said that it is necessary to pay attention to clarifying basic concepts and formulas. "We need to know where these concepts and formulas come from, what they can be used for and what their qualitative nature is," the male student said.
Gia Diec did not choose to memorize the formulas but instead deduced them himself to derive the formulas. He believed that this would help him remember the formulas better and even if he forgot them during the exam, he could deduce them himself to quickly find the formulas.

The male student also shared his note-taking method using three ink colors. Gia Diec used black for general notes, red for extended notes, and blue for comments and questions that arose.
Liu Jiayi specifically mentioned that if you encounter doubts in the learning process, you must find a way to solve them and not be lazy. Because solving problems is a test of your will, character and ability.
