On November 10, 69 villages and residential areas in 15 communes and towns in Nam Sach district simultaneously held elections for village and residential area chiefs.
As a result, 26 people were elected. These new village and residential area leaders were elected at community meetings with over 50% of total household representatives participating.
In Dinh village, Thai Tan commune, the candidate for village chief failed to win the election.
The remaining 42 villages that have not elected a village chief (because they did not ensure that more than 50% of the total number of household representatives attended the residential community meeting) will simultaneously distribute ballots to households to collect opinions to elect a village chief from November 17.
Previously, the four communes of Minh Tan, Nam Tan, Dong Lac and Hiep Cat held elections and elected 24 village chiefs. Many villages also had to distribute ballots to households to collect opinions.
Along with Nam Sach, many places in the province have not been able to elect village and residential area chiefs because they did not organize community meetings and had to distribute ballots to households to collect opinions.
