Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong acknowledged the efforts of the tourism industry and related units in 2023. The results achieved are the result of the efforts of the tourism industry, the business community and the attention and direction of the entire political system in the past time.
Recently, Da Nang was voted as one of the best destinations in Asia, but in response to the trust and votes of tourists, the city's tourism industry needs to do well in terms of service and product quality, meeting the needs of customers for sustainable development.
In the context of many difficulties, requiring travel businesses to seek new markets, customers, build new product packages... to survive and develop. The city government always accompanies businesses in promotion programs, finding flight routes, exploiting new markets, and solving common difficulties.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong requested the Da Nang Tourism Association, its member associations, investors, corporations, and the tourism business community to study and propose a plan to form an event fund to attract visitors; continue to strongly promote the role of a driving force, accompany the city in tourism promotion activities, promote flights, organize festival events; ensure service quality, security and safety, renew products... to create excitement for the city.

At the same time, city leaders believe that with the efforts of the industry and businesses, in the coming time, the tourism industry will continue to affirm more clearly its role as one of the city's five key economic sectors.
Receiving the instructions of the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Director of the Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh said that she will continue to work with departments, branches, sectors and localities to resolve difficulties and obstacles, overcome limitations and implement the Da Nang tourism development plan for 2024; strive to maintain growth momentum and develop sustainable tourism in the coming time.

In 2024, the department will continue to focus on restoring international tourist markets, building high-quality resort-oriented tourism products, and effectively communicating destinations...
According to the Department of Tourism's report, in 2023, the number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated at more than 7.39 million, double that of 2022, equal to 92% compared to 2019. Of which, international visitors reached more than 1.98 million, 4.2 times higher than in 2022; domestic visitors were about 5.41 million, up 66% compared to 2022.
Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage and travel is expected to reach nearly VND28,000 billion, up 44% compared to 2022. Of which, revenue from accommodation and travel services is expected to reach nearly VND15,000 billion, nearly double that of 2022.
In 2023, there will be about 40,000 flights to Da Nang, an increase of 1.35 times compared to 2022. Notably, the locality welcomed 163 MICE delegations with about 46,000 visitors, including 68 domestic delegations and 95 international delegations from markets such as India, Malaysia, Taiwan (China), Spain, France...
However, to date, the dynamic tourism projects have not been started, leading to the slow formation of new tourism products. Enterprises are facing difficulties in capital sources, land rents, etc., affecting investment in upgrading products.
Da Nang does not have a dedicated tourist seaport, stops serving inland waterway tourism routes have not been deployed; the quality of human resources serving tourism is uneven; there is a lack of experienced tourism human resources….
In 2024, it is expected that the number of guests served by accommodation establishments will reach 8.42 million, an increase of more than 13.8% compared to 2023. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel services is expected to reach more than VND 30,800 billion, an increase of more than 10% compared to 2023.
The tourism industry focuses on effectively implementing the plan and project of the Orientation for Tourism Development of Da Nang City to 2030, with a vision to 2045; the project of Night-time Economic Development and key projects and plans approved by the city according to the roadmap such as supporting the commencement of the project of the river of light and inland waterway wharf, the complex of works serving the international fireworks festival, the cultural park and entertainment area southeast of the Memorial, etc.

At the conference, the Department of Tourism signed a coordination regulation with the People's Committees of districts and towns; awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee and Certificates of Merit from the Director of the Department of Tourism to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in tourism activities.
