In 2024, Vietnam will have 7 student delegations participating in regional and international Olympic competitions with 38 students participating, including: 1 IT delegation participating in the Asia-Pacific Olympic region, 1 physics delegation participating in the Asia Olympic region and 5 delegations participating in the international Olympic competitions: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and IT.
The Vietnamese student delegations brought home excellent results, with 100% of the contestants winning medals, including 12 Gold Medals, 15 Silver Medals, 10 Bronze Medals and 1 Certificate of Merit. Compared to 2023, 2024 saw an increase of 4 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals.
Vietnamese student delegations achieved high rankings; many Vietnamese students achieved top scores, especially practical exam scores increased compared to previous years.
Specifically, at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, the Vietnamese national team had 7/7 students winning medals; including: 1 Gold Medal, 6 Silver Medals; ranked 6th out of 35 participating countries and territories.
At the Asian Physics Olympiad, 8/8 Vietnamese students won medals; including: 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal, 6 Bronze Medals.
At the International Mathematical Olympiad, 6/6 students won medals and certificates of merit; including: 2 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals, 1 Certificate of Merit.
At the International Physics Olympiad, 5/5 students won medals with 2 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals, ranking 5th among the countries with the highest results (after China, Russia, Romania...).
At the International Chemistry Olympiad, 4/4 Vietnamese students won medals, including: 3 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal. The Vietnamese delegation continued to maintain its position in the top group of the IChO.
At the International Biology Olympiad, 4/4 students won medals, including 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal. With this achievement, Vietnam ranked 3rd out of 81 participating countries and territories, the best achievement of Vietnamese students since 2019.
At the International Olympiad in Informatics, 4/4 students won medals, including: 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal, 1 Bronze Medal. The Vietnam national IOI team is in the group of 4 countries and territories with the highest results according to the medal tally, after the United States, Japan and Poland (in 2023, the Vietnam IOI team is in the group of 9 countries with the highest results).
The results of the regional and international Olympics in 2024 and the past 5 years of Vietnamese student delegations affirm that the quality of general education and the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training are on the right track.
