Ms. Zakharova said that Russia considers such actions unacceptable, especially regarding large international commercial projects such as LNG 2 in the Arctic, which affect the energy balance goals of many countries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that the situation at LNG 2 in the Arctic once again confirms Washington's sabotage of global economic security. The US always talks about maintaining security in this area but in reality pursues selfish interests.
The statement came after Washington announced sanctions against a new LNG plant being developed on the Gydan Peninsula in the Arctic from November 2023. Russia is the fourth-largest producer of LNG at sea after the United States, Qatar and Australia.
The sanctions prompted partners from China, Japan and France, which hold a combined 40% stake in the LNG 2 project, to suspend their participation last week.
