Mr. Lanh, a car repairman in District 3, said he did not return to his hometown in Ca Mau for Tet but stayed to work to earn more income. Looking at the deserted Dien Bien Phu Street, he smiled and said this was a "specialty" only found in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of the first day of Tet.

Ta Quang Buu Street (District 8) used to be crowded with vehicles and bustling with flower buying and selling in the past, but today... it's completely different.

"There are few cars during Tet, but the first morning is the quietest. This is the only day of the year when we see a scene like this," he added.

He also said that at the end of January, he will return home to visit his family. He hopes that in the new year, everyone will be safe, prosperous, lucky and successful.

Meanwhile, early this morning, Ms. Thao Le (living in Binh Thanh District) woke up early to ride her motorbike to the center of Ho Chi Minh City to take photos and enjoy the spring with her family. Wearing a beautiful ao dai, she said she had "quite a few" Tet photos.
