On the afternoon of October 17, Ho Chi Minh City People's Court sentenced the defendants in the Van Thinh Phat case, phase 2.
The panel sentenced the defendants for the group of Fraudulent appropriation of property, Money laundering and Illegal transportation of currency across borders:
- Truong My Lan (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Group): life imprisonment.
- Truong Khanh Hoang (former acting General Director of SCB): 23 years in prison.
- Nguyen Phuong Anh (Deputy General Director of SPG Company): 16 years in prison.
- Trinh Quang Cong (General Director of Acumen Management Group Corporation): 15 years in prison.

- Nguyen Vu Anh Thi (General Director of Vietnam Infrastructure and Real Estate Development Corporation): 9 years in prison.
- Bui Anh Dung (former Chairman of the Board of Directors of SCB): 10 years in prison.

- Tran Thi My Dung (former Deputy General Director of SCB): 14 years in prison.

- Thai Thi Thanh Thao (former Wholesale Customer Service Director, SCB - Saigon Branch): 5 years in prison.
- Ngo Thanh Nha (General Director of Van Thinh Phat Investment Group): 5 years in prison.
- Truong Thi Kim Lai (Chief Accountant of An Dong Investment Group Corporation): 4 years in prison.
- Kwok Hakman Oliver (General Director, legal representative of An Dong Investment Group Joint Stock Company): 5 years and 6 months in prison.
- Truong Vincent Kinh (Chairman of the Board of Directors of SPG Company, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sunny World Company): 5 years in prison.
- Tran Thi Thuy Ai (Cash controller and warehouse keeper of SCB - Saigon Branch): 4 years in prison.
- Pham Thi Thuy Hang (Chief Accountant of SPG Company): 5 years in prison.
- Dang Phuong Hoai Tam (Deputy Head of the Board of Directors Office of Van Thinh Phat Group Joint Stock Company): 4 years in prison.
- Phan Chi Luan (office employee of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Group): 5 years in prison.
- Tran Van Tuan (General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Service - Trading Joint Stock Company - SETRA): 5 years in prison.

- Bui Van Dung (Truong My Lan's driver): 2 years and 6 months in prison.
- Tran Thi Hoang Uyen (secretary of Truong My Lan): 2 years and 6 months in prison.
- Tran Xuan Phuong (Ngo Thanh Nha's secretary): 2 years and 6 months in prison.
Crime of illegal transportation of currency across borders:
- To Thi Anh Dao (Deputy General Director of Van Thinh Phat Investment Group Joint Stock Company): 2 years and 6 months in prison.
