More than 30 private schools in Hanoi enroll students without using public 10th grade exam results

On the evening of April 18, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the 10th grade enrollment plan for private high schools and autonomous public high schools in the city.

In the 2025-2026 school year, private high schools and autonomous public high schools in Hanoi will apply two methods of admission to grade 10: using the results of the 2025 public high school entrance exam and considering the results of junior high school transcripts. Of these, more than 30 schools will not use the results of the public grade 10 exam.

Hanoi this year has more than 127,000 students graduating from secondary schools, down about 6,000 compared to last year. According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, at least 64% of students have a place in public schools, 3-4% higher than previous years; the rest go to private schools, continuing education and vocational training.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training recently assigned 27,919 enrollment quotas to 77 private high schools in the city. The three schools with the highest enrollment are Hoang Mai, FPT, and Luong The Vinh High Schools, with 675 students each.
