Anthony Martial's contract with MU will expire next summer and the club has no intention of activating the automatic 12-month extension clause while wanting to push the French striker away as quickly as possible.
Martial was a favourite of Erik ten Hag when he first started at United and was expected to work hard to shine in his team. However, the star lacked motivation and determination, which Mourinho had warned him about when he was in the 'hot seat'.
Therefore, Martial has only caused one disappointment after another, and is now a burden at MU, so the club really wants to sell him as soon as possible.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, MU seems to be finally close to pushing Martial away as Inter Milan really want this player in the mid-season transfer - January 2024.
The Serie A representative reportedly wants a loan deal with Martial with an option to buy at the end of the season for around 8-10 million Euros.
If successful in pushing Martial away, reducing his salary significantly, MU plans to bring in a new striker to improve the attack when Rasmus Hojlund is still having difficulties in the Premier League.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, MU has shortlisted 3 names to add if possible and all are playing in the Bundesliga, including Timo Werner (Leipzig), Serhou Guirassy (Stuttgart) and Donyell Malen (Dortmund).
MU is currently ranked 7th in the Premier League after 17 rounds, and will visit West Ham tonight, at 7:30 p.m. on December 23.
