Expanding cooperation between Nhan Dan Newspaper and Yonhap News Agency

(CLO) On December 11, comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association received Mr. Hwang Dae-il, Chairman and CEO of Yonhap News Agency (Korea) who visited and worked at the headquarters of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Also attending the reception were Mr. Vu Viet Trang, General Director of Vietnam News Agency; leaders of some departments and specialized units of Nhan Dan Newspaper; leaders of the International Relations Department of Yonhap News Agency and Yonhap's resident correspondent in Vietnam.

Welcoming the Yonhap News Agency delegation to visit Nhan Dan Newspaper, on behalf of the leaders, officers and employees of the Newspaper, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh expressed his pleasure to welcome and thank Yonhap News Agency Chairman and CEO Hwang Dae-il and members of the delegation for visiting the editorial office.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh shared that under the guidance of the Party and State, Nhan Dan Newspaper focuses on building itself as the most important printed and electronic newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

“In Vietnam, Nhan Dan Newspaper is the press agency with the largest number of printed newspapers in the country. However, in the face of the fact that the trend of reading printed newspapers in the world is decreasing, the development of this type of newspaper in Vietnam is also more or less affected. We strive to maintain and develop printed newspapers, while also determining that investing in electronic newspapers is a long-term direction,” added journalist Le Quoc Minh.

He added that the relationship between Vietnam and Korea is developing well, promoting cooperation in many areas such as economy, culture, education, etc. The task of press agencies from the two countries is to contribute to promoting this relationship to develop more strongly, creating a strong relationship between the people of the two countries.

Previously, during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam Choi Young Sam in March 2024, the two sides emphasized the importance of launching a Korean version on Nhan Dan Newspaper publications. Thereby, reaching a wider audience of Korean readers in Vietnam and the world. "This project has been approved and we will strive to launch the first content in Korean in the first quarter of 2025," Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh informed.

“The fact that Nhan Dan Newspaper is also pushing to launch a Korean version and Yonhap News Agency is preparing to launch a Vietnamese version shows that the relationship between the two countries is expanding. Information transmitted between the two sides will be faster, more direct and more accurate without having to go through another intermediate language,” Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh emphasized.

For his part, Chairman and CEO of Yonhap News Agency Hwang Dae-il expressed his honor and joy to visit Nhan Dan Newspaper, and highly appreciated the important role of the Newspaper in Vietnam's revolutionary journalism.

According to Mr. Hwang Dae-il, the fact that Yonhap News Agency is preparing to launch a Vietnamese version and Nhan Dan Newspaper is also promoting the launch of a Korean version is a necessary direction, helping people of both countries to be provided with complete and accurate news about the localities where they live.

“I believe today's meeting will serve as a foundation for further promoting closer ties between Nhan Dan Newspaper and Yonhap News Agency,” said Hwang Dae-il.
