On December 26, Ms. Van Thi Huu Tam - Deputy Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1 Company) said that on the 4th day of operation, people have gradually become accustomed to using the train as a means of transportation, serving the needs of going to work, going to school, sightseeing, etc.

Among them, Ben Thanh station of metro line 1 is still the place with the most visitors.

On December 25, HURC1 operated 200 trains with an average interval of 12 minutes/trip during normal hours and 8 minutes/trip during peak hours. The total number of passengers transported was 115,962, reaching an average of 580 passengers/train.

Also according to HURC1 statistics, in the past 4 days, the unit has operated 797 electric trains, serving 394,967 passengers.

Of which, the first day of operation had 149,870 passengers, the most. The least number of passengers was the second day of operation with 38,751 passengers.

From January 2, 2025, passengers on metro line 1 must have a QR code.

Metro Line 1 officially opened on December 22, after 12 years of construction. Ho Chi Minh City residents will experience the metro line in the first month of operation.

These days, passengers do not need to use cards, download apps or use ID cards when coming to stations to experience.

However, according to the plan, from January 2, 2025, HURC1 will operate the entry and exit management control system when taking metro train No. 1. Therefore, passengers need to download the HCMC Metro HURC application on their phones and create a QR code to take the train.

Along with that, use a bank card to take the train when you already have a Mastercard or bring your CCCD, VNeID application to get support to open a card directly at the stations.

From January 10, 2025, passengers can use Visa, JCB, American Express, Union Pay, Napas cards to scan at entrances and exits equipped with readers.

For children (under 14 years old) and other passengers, station staff will provide support and specific instructions to easily use the service when taking metro train No. 1.

The price of a single ticket ranges from 6,000 to 20,000 VND depending on the distance and how to buy the ticket (cash or cashless). As for time-based tickets, a one-day ticket costs 40,000 VND/person (unlimited number of trips per day), and a 3-day ticket costs 90,000 VND/person (unlimited number of trips in 3 days).

Monthly ticket, general passengers: 300,000 VND/person (unlimited number of trips per month), students: 150,000 VND/person.

Compared to the first day, when 150,000 passengers were recorded, the number of people taking metro line 1 on the second day of operation decreased significantly even though Ho Chi Minh City increased the time and number of trips.
