Messi and his family were quickly welcomed by the American press and fans.

According to Mail Sport , Messi is preparing to complete the final procedures to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with Inter Miami, with the option to play for another season at the team co-owned and chaired by David Beckham.

Billionaire Jorge Mas, who co-owns Inter Miami with David Beckham, also said Messi will earn between $50 million and $60 million a year, with money coming from Adidas through Inter Miami shirt sales and Apple TV, the company that owns the MLS television rights.

After completing the contract signing, Messi will have a presentation ceremony this weekend (July 16) and is expected to play his first match on July 21 in the match between Inter Miami and Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

Messi's unveiling will also feature performances from Bad Bunny, Shakira and Maluma. MLS is also working with FOX and Univision to air a portion of Messi's unveiling at halftime of the 2023 Gold Cup final on the same day.
