During this time of mourning, I ask for privacy for the family. We are very grateful for the concern and love of friends, colleagues and fans. Thank you for everyone's encouragement."
According to the Korea Daily, Ms. Baek Soon Jung passed away at the age of 102. After receiving this sad news, Coach Park Hang Seo hurriedly flew from Vietnam back to Korea.
Mrs. Baek Soon Jung gave birth to 5 children, of which Coach Park Hang Seo is the youngest son, so he is very loved by his mother. Coach Park Hang Seo admitted that he resembles his mother in both appearance and personality.
During the ceremony to celebrate Baek Soon Jung's 100th birthday, the Korean coach shared about his hard-working mother. He said: "I remember that I was not a rebellious child. Since pursuing my football career, I have been away from my mother for a long time.
Now, when working in Vietnam, I don't have the opportunity to see her often. However, my mother is the person I admire the most. She always wants the youngest son Park Hang Seo to practice hard and stay healthy."
Baek Soon Jeong was born in Saengcho-myeon, Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province. When she was a school-age girl, she was the most educated girl in her village. She graduated from the prestigious Jinju High School. At that time, it was rare for a girl in Korea to have such a high level of education.
Coach Park Hang Seo always loves and is grateful to his hard-working mother.
However, an incident occurred when Mr. Park Rok was seriously injured in the leg and could no longer work. The burden of the family fell on the small shoulders of the former high school girl Baek Soon Jeong. All the housework, and the task of earning money to support her husband and 5 children, forced her to be strong and to bear the burden.
"My family was very poor. However, my mother still tried her best to send her children to Seoul to study. At first, she worked part-time at a pharmacy. Then, when the cost of raising children increased, she had to work part-time at a restaurant and also sell salt. Thanks to my mother, I was able to go to Seoul to study football" - Coach Park Hang Seo recalled.
According to Korean newspapers, Baek Soon Jung's funeral will be held on February 5 at Sancheong Funeral Home. She will be buried at Daejeon National Cemetery.
