On the same day, Comac's C919 aircraft took off from Van Don International Airport to Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC). On March 3, the C919 will fly from HCMC to Vientiane (Laos).
The C919 and ARJ21-700 are the first two civil aircraft in China designed and manufactured by Comac, of which the ARJ21-700 is a twin-engine jet with a maximum of 90 seats, and the C919 is a narrow-body passenger aircraft with a maximum of 192 seats.
The C919 and ARJ21 aircraft recently participated in the Comac Airshow exhibition and demonstration event series from February 26 to 29 at Van Don airport. This is the first time the C919 has been widely introduced in an international exhibition event and in Vietnam. Visitors were allowed to visit and explore each aircraft. Nearly 300 visitors participated in the Comac Airshow exhibition.
As planned, the Comac Airshow opens a series of demonstration events by the Chinese domestic aircraft manufacturer in five Southeast Asian countries. After a static display at Van Don airport, these aircraft are scheduled to travel to Con Dao, Tan Son Nhat, and Dong Hoi. After the event in Van Don, the aircraft will continue to fly to Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vientiane (Laos).
Speaking at the Comac Airshow, Comac Chairman Dam Van Canh expressed his hope that Van Don - Quang Ninh will be a new starting point for increased cooperation between Comac and the Vietnamese aviation industry, strongly promoting the development of the aviation industry of both sides. "This event also creates a premise for our airlines to use aircraft manufactured by Comac Group to transport passengers to Quang Ninh, Vietnam for sightseeing and tourism," he said.
Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Cao Tuong Huy said local leaders hope to have more new cooperation, especially the opening of flight routes connecting Chinese provinces and cities to Quang Ninh via Van Don airport and vice versa.
