Mathnasium Championship 2024: Creating the future with mathematical thinking

The journey to find Math Thinking talents ended with the 36 best candidates nationwide at the Mathnasium Championship 2024 Final round.

Mathnasium Championship is a quality intellectual playground for students from 6 to 11 years old nationwide organized by Mathnasium Vietnam. This year, the competition enters its 9th milestone, which not only continues to affirm the prestige of the competition but also records a significant increase in the number of contestants registered for the competition compared to previous seasons, attracting nearly 46,000 contestants nationwide. After going through the challenging online preliminary round and semi-final, the 289 best contestants in the Southern region entered the final round with a direct competition format.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hoang Diem - General Director of Mathnasium Vietnam system said: "Coming to Mathnasium Championship 2024, students will not only participate in a meaningful competition but also be encouraged to demonstrate their bravery and confidence in the face of many thinking questions. In addition, the competition also conveys the message that each contestant is a different talent, and the final destination is not the highest position or award, but the journey to conquer knowledge, overcome all challenges so that students become more confident, brave and complete".

The Mathnasium Championship is a place for students to express their confidence, assert themselves, step out of their comfort zone, and test their perseverance, intelligence, and outstanding thinking. The competition is not only an opportunity for students to interact and learn from each other, but also an attractive playground for them to demonstrate their mathematical skills and shine their talents.

The moment to honor the best candidates

Mathnasium Championship 2024 has created a diverse and challenging journey as each round is highly competitive, helping students get used to the competition environment, while also training their endurance and ability to adapt to new requirements. In particular, the Final round with a direct competition format also requires candidates to think and make decisions as quickly as possible to gain an advantage.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thai Bao Thien Trung - Head of the Department of Mathematics Teaching Methods, Faculty of Mathematics - Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education - Vice Chairman of the Professional Council of the Mathnasium Championship 2024 shared: “This competition gives contestants the opportunity to practice mathematical thinking, especially in problem-solving skills. Through tightly designed questions, students not only master knowledge but also build their own effective study plans. This is also an opportunity for them to discover the joy of math and realize that this subject is not boring. Parents can also accompany, cheer, and accompany their children on the journey of conquering knowledge. In addition, students also have the opportunity to develop confidence, independent thinking ability, love for math, as well as improve important soft skills and social skills”.

Students boldly raised their answers, demonstrating their spirit of learning and determination in each challenge.

Officially starting from August 27, 2024 with 6 competition boards corresponding to students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, the competition goes through 3 rounds including: Preliminary round, Semi-final round and Final round.

The Preliminary Round takes place from September 24, 2024 to October 8, 2024. Candidates will take the test online. After the Preliminary Round, the Organizing Committee selected 3,667 candidates with the highest scores to enter the Semi-finals.

The Semi-finals will take place on October 19 and 20, 2024. Candidates will take the written exam at test locations arranged by the Organizing Committee. After the Semi-finals, the Organizing Committee will continue to select 475 candidates with the highest scores to move on to the Finals.

The Final Round and Award Ceremony are divided into 2 regions: the North is held in Hanoi and the South is held in Ho Chi Minh City. In this round, contestants use markers and whiteboards prepared by the Organizing Committee to answer questions. In case of contestants with equal scores, additional questions will be used to determine the First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes.

The prize structure of each Competition includes:

1 First Prize: Scholarship, gift and certificate of merit of the program (total value equivalent to 25,000,000 VND)

1 Second Prize: Scholarship, gift and certificate of merit of the program (total value equivalent to 20,000,000 VND)

1 Third Prize: Scholarship, gift and certificate of merit of the program (total value equivalent to 15,000,000 VND)

3 - 5 Consolation prizes: Scholarships, gifts and certificates of merit from the program (total value equivalent to 5,000,000 VND/prize)

Potential Prize: For all remaining contestants participating in the Final round: Gifts in kind and Certificates of the program.

After the success of the Northern Regional Finals held in Hanoi on November 3, 2024, the Mathnasium Championship 2024 - Southern Regional Finals also took place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 10, 2024 to find the 18 best candidates to receive First, Second, and Third prizes.
