In 2023, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Ky City organized a conference to contribute comments and feedback on the draft decision to abolish the decisions approving the 1/500 detailed planning project in Tam Ky City.

This is a hot issue in the locality, so it attracts the participation of many representatives of the Front agencies, organizations from the city to the communes, wards and especially the people living in the location of the planning project expected to be abolished.

Previously, the Urban Management Department advised the city to abolish 15 planning projects that were no longer feasible, including 6 projects approved by the Provincial People's Committee, 3 by the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone Management Board (old) and 6 by the Tam Ky City People's Committee.

This morning, June 7, the 9th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Tam Ky City, term 2024 - 2029, took place. According to the report on the implementation of the Resolution of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress of the city, term 2019 - 2024, over the past 5 years, the city has chaired 181 thematic supervision meetings; 73 "direct dialogue" conferences between the heads of Party committees and authorities with the people.

At the same time, coordinate to mobilize 1,800 households to comply with the policy of compensation, site clearance, and resettlement; mobilize people to donate nearly 46,800m2 of land, architectural objects, and trees to implement projects with a total value of about 62 billion VND.

The conference received many opinions agreeing to abolish it to ensure consistency and unity in management; create conditions for localities to gradually invest in building residential areas, resettlement and urban embellishment; ensure that people can exercise their legitimate rights and interests regarding land and construction in accordance with current regulations.

Not stopping there, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Thanh - Head of the Economic and Cultural Advisory Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Ky City said that the consequences of suspended planning projects for the people are too great, so in addition to the 15 projects expected to be abolished and need to be resolved soon, the city should review the remaining projects in the area to have a solution.

Also in 2023, for the first time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Ky City held a review conference on a content, which was the draft resolution to adjust and supplement the city's medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period.

After nearly 3 years of implementing the plan, the mobilized investment capital decreased by more than VND 860 billion compared to the plan, causing the City People's Committee to propose the City People's Council to adjust the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025; in which the capital plan was reduced by VND 474 billion with 64 investment portfolios being cut; conversely, 16 project portfolios were added.

Many opinions at the conference analyzed, evaluated, and recommended that city leaders consider clarifying the causes, rationality, and effectiveness of the cut projects and the additional list to better serve the development needs of the locality.

There are projects that last for decades, causing difficulties in people's lives and activities, affecting people's rights, leading to prolonged complaints. Therefore, the conference aims to contribute to creating unity in the management of local authorities, gradually implementing urban beautification investments; at the same time, ensuring that people can exercise their legitimate rights and interests.

“Choose issues that people are interested in, close to social life to organize criticism, contributing to bringing the people's voice to the government. When organizing criticism of the draft resolution to adjust and supplement the public investment plan, the Tam Ky City Front wants to link it with resolving voters' petitions, for example, why the works and projects that voters reflect are not included in the investment portfolio" - Mr. Ba analyzed.

According to the assessment, the monitoring and social criticism activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Ky City have recently had positive changes. The selected social criticism contents have a focus and key points suitable for each locality and unit, meeting the requirements and aspirations of the people.

Social criticism activities are proactively selected by the Vietnam Fatherland Front from the city to the grassroots level, requesting Party committees, People's Councils, and People's Committees at the same level to provide draft documents, projects, and proposals for organizing criticism according to the provisions of law. The Tam Ky City Front has an advisory board and a team of experts with knowledge in many fields to participate in providing quality comments and criticism.

“During the last term, the city level organized 9 feedback sessions and the commune and ward levels organized 55 feedback sessions. Through social feedback activities, the will, aspirations and mastery of the people were promoted in the process of planning policies and strategies, contributing to ensuring the necessity, rationality, feasibility and effectiveness of policies and strategies, meeting the legitimate requirements and aspirations of the people,” Mr. Ba shared.
