On March 21, the 2025 Da Nang International Marathon officially opened at Bien Dong Park, Da Nang City.
International running race with record scale
This year's competition features three distances for adults including marathon (42km), half marathon (21km) and 5km, along with two Ronny Dash distances (500m and 1.5km) for children.
The new season will attract the largest number of international athletes ever, from 72 countries and territories, marking the 12th season of this prestigious international running event in Vietnam.
The event not only affirmed Da Nang as a leading sports and tourism destination, but also set a record for the number of international athletes participating.
In 2025, the tournament is expected to welcome more than 7,000 athletes, including about 3,000 international athletes, an increase of 42% compared to 2024 and accounting for 41% of the total number of participants.
The coastal city of Da Nang will continue to be a gathering place for excellent runners, including many international champions and top Vietnamese athletes.

Gathering prominent names
In the 42km marathon, prominent names such as Shadrack Kipkemboi (Kenya), Issel Kawabata (Japan), Otmane Menbar (Morocco) will compete with Vietnamese athletes such as Pham Ngoc Phan, Huynh Anh Khoi, Le Tan Hi, Le Minh Tuan, Pham Thi Binh.
Meanwhile, the 21km half marathon promises to be equally exciting with the participation of Eric Kiplimo Mosbei (Kenya), James Drakeford (England), Vimal Govendarajoo (Malaysia) and Vietnamese female athletes Doan Thi Oanh, Nguyen Khanh Ly, Thai Thi Kim Ngan.
This year, the event also attracts many international running clubs, running groups from Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Philippines will participate in the 5km Meet-up Run on the afternoon of March 21, along with local running clubs. This is an opportunity to connect the running community around the world.
The route runs along My Khe beach, Han River and Son Tra peninsula, offering a unique sports and tourism experience for participating athletes.
The event promises to bring exciting competitions and is an opportunity for the sports-loving community to conquer challenges together, connect and spread the running spirit to everyone.
