Parking lot is too small
In the days after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, Ly Son Island (Quang Ngai) organized many traditional festivals such as the Four Sacred Animals boat race, activities to promote the image of the island district to tourists, attracting thousands of visitors to come and "break ground".
The car parking lot of Sa Ky port station has become overloaded in recent days when the number of cars needing to be parked has increased many times over.
But on the other hand, hundreds of people had to "turn around" and not visit the island even though they had bought tickets and made plans because they could not find a place to park their cars overnight.
Mr. Manh, a tourist from Gia Lai, said that his whole family traveled from the mountain town by car to Quang Ngai with a spring travel schedule including: Ly Son, Hoi An and Da Nang.
When arriving at Sa Ky port station, Mr. Manh, his wife and three young children had to return home, changing their schedule because after nearly an hour he still could not find a place to park and leave his car overnight.
"When selling tickets, the station should advise tourists about train schedules, accommodation conditions, and parking, especially for private cars," said Mr. Manh.
Sa Ky port station parking lot is overloaded, only able to accommodate about 100 vehicles.
It is known that the parking lot in Sa Ky port station can only accommodate about 100 cars with 9 seats or less.
Meanwhile, parking demand has increased dramatically in recent days to about 500 to 700 cars per day.
Furthermore, outside the Sa Ky port area there are no road transport support services, especially parking lots.
Efforts to serve the travel needs of tourists
According to the report of the Port Management Board and the Quang Ngai Inland Waterways Port Authority, from the 3rd to the 7th of the Lunar New Year 2024, the number of tourists coming to Sa Ky port to go to Ly Son island and vice versa from Ly Son to the mainland increased by about 9,000.
From the 3rd to the 5th, there were about 7,000 visitors to Ly Son. Of these, about 5,000 tourists left the island.
Therefore, the number of tourists remaining in Ly Son and will leave the island in the next few days is around 2,000 tourists.
In addition, thousands of Ly Son people will also leave the island to the mainland to make a living, so the demand for travel on weekends increases sharply.
Thousands of tourists are still staying to visit Ly Son and watch the boat racing, so the demand for travel in the next few days will be very high.
Representatives of the Port Management Board and the Quang Ngai Inland Waterways Port Authority said that, determining that the demand for travel on the Sa Ky - Ly Son waterway during the period before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin has increased dramatically, the unit has planned and prepared well for service provision.
In particular, despite the Tet holiday, the unit mobilized 100% of its staff and workers to coordinate with transport businesses to organize 26 trains operating continuously on the route to best serve the travel needs of people and tourists visiting Ly Son Island.
