According to the Korea Times, the movie “Dark Nuns” starring Song Hye Kyo has surpassed 1.6 million moviegoers, reaching the break-even point, according to data from the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system.

To date, the film has sold its copyright to 160 countries, attracting the attention of global audiences, including achieving commercial success when shown in Southeast Asian countries.

In Indonesia, "Dark Nuns" became the Korean film with the highest opening weekend revenue, ranking second among all Korean films ever shown in this country. The film is considered to have attracted the most attention among Korean films ever released in theaters in Indonesia.

In the Philippines, the film has dominated the box office for two consecutive weeks since its release.

The film is expected to be released in other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.

Korean media commented that the heat of the name Song Hye Kyo in the Southeast Asian market has not cooled down for over 20 years.

Not to mention, "Dark Nuns" also marks the first time Song Hye Kyo appears in a Korean film, after 11 years, since "Glorious Years" in 2014.

In 2023, at the age of 42, Song Hye Kyo starred in "The Glory" and the film reached number 1 in all Southeast Asian countries using Netflix.

Previously, Song Hye Kyo had many works that left a strong impression on Southeast Asian audiences such as "Descendants of the Sun", "Autumn in My Heart", "Full House"...

Song Hye Kyo's "Descendants of the Sun" is so beloved that it has a remake version in Vietnam and the Philippines. However, the 1981-born beauty is still a "monument" for her role as nurse Kang Mo Yeon.

“Dark Nuns” is a female version of the 2015 blockbuster film “The Priests.” The film tells the story of nuns who perform a forbidden ritual to save a young boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.

In the film, Song Hye Kyo plays Sister Junia, a nun who always tries to rescue a boy possessed by a demon. When describing her character, Song Hye Kyo said: "She makes bold, courageous choices that I personally cannot make. I admire her courage and find her extremely attractive.

I always try my best in every project. But when I watch my own films, I tend to focus on what I missed, so there are always some regrets."
