Thai Binh Enterprises and Entrepreneurs: Core Forces Promoting Local Economic Growth

During the 20-year development journey, the business community and entrepreneurs of Thai Binh have continuously strived to overcome difficulties and challenges, becoming the core force promoting economic growth, contributing to the successful completion of the local socio-economic development task.

On the afternoon of October 8, the Provincial Business Association organized the 20th anniversary of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day (October 13, 2004 - October 13, 2024) and honored typical entrepreneurs and businesses in 2024.

Constantly developing in both quality and quantity

On September 20, 2004, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai signed Decision No. 990/QD-TTg deciding to annually take October 13 as Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Day. During the 20-year development journey, the Thai Binh business community has made strong strides in both breadth and depth, increasing the number of enterprises, branches and representative offices from 1,500 in 2004 to 11,269 (as of August 2024). The number of employees increased from 140,000 in 2004 to 310,000 in 2024. Domestic revenue increased from 608 billion in 2004 to over 11.5 trillion VND in 2024, of which the amount of corporate tax contributed accounted for more than 62% of total domestic revenue.

It can be affirmed that in recent years, Thai Binh enterprises and businessmen have contributed significantly to the economic growth of the province, accompanying the province in industrial development and attracting foreign investment. In 2023, Thai Binh attracted 3 billion USD in foreign direct investment, ranking 5th out of 63 provinces and cities. In the first 8 months of 2024 alone, there were over 284 million USD invested in Thai Binh and it is expected to attract 1 billion USD in foreign investment in 2024.

The spirit of young entrepreneurs has increased rapidly over the years. The movement of female entrepreneurs has grown steadily. To date, the province has 14 district-level member associations with over 2,000 members. Many typical and advanced enterprises and entrepreneurs with outstanding achievements have received noble awards from the Party and the State.

In addition to production and business activities, the Thai Binh business community also actively contributes to the province's socio-economic development and ensures social security; regularly and actively participates in social responsibilities, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, taking care of the poor and vulnerable during Tet... Every time Tet comes, tens of billions of VND are donated to the poor, especially hundreds of billions of VND to support the Covid-19 pandemic; at the same time, actively participates in supporting people affected by natural disasters...

On this occasion, the Thai Binh Business Association also called on businesses and entrepreneurs in the province to join hands with the Party Committee and people in the province to successfully implement the Resolution of the 20th Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee and actively invest in developing production and business in the direction of high technology and modernity in line with the fourth industrial revolution 4.0 AI technology, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, green transformation, digital transformation, reaching out to the ocean, successfully integrating internationally and accompanying the province in reforming administrative procedures, improving the investment and business environment, focusing on promoting business, sustainable economic growth, contributing a lot to the province's budget, contributing to the successful completion of economic targets in 2024.

Continue to accompany the development of the province

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ngo Dong Hai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee expressed his respect for the contributions and highly appreciated the role of entrepreneurs and enterprises, considering the province's team of entrepreneurs and enterprises as the sustainable foundation for local economic development.

Emphasizing 6 important outstanding contributions of the business community and entrepreneurs of Thai Binh in the past time, the Provincial Party Secretary said that after 4 years of implementing the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress, the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh have achieved many important results, bringing Thai Binh province into a new development stage with many new opportunities and chances. Currently, the political system and people in the whole province are making great efforts to promote emulation in labor production, socio-economic development, successfully implementing the political tasks and goals and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress.

In the context of the world and regional situation continuing to have complex and unpredictable developments; domestic and provincial conditions have advantages but still face many difficulties, the tasks of the last year of the term are extremely great and heavy, requiring the efforts, joint efforts, and consensus of the Party Committee, government and people in the province, including the very important role, responsibility and the companionship and efforts of businesses and entrepreneurs in the whole province.

To realize the aspiration of making Thai Binh a developed province in the Red River region, together with the leadership and direction of Party committees at all levels, the participation of the government, the support and consensus of the people, the Provincial Party Secretary requested the team of enterprises and entrepreneurs in the province to continue to accompany the development of the province, effectively implement socio-economic development programs and plans; proactively innovate production and business models, improve productivity, capacity and competitiveness; invest more in technology, high-quality human resources, restructure enterprises associated with digital transformation, innovation and creativity to find opportunities in the current challenging context; strengthen research, grasp development trends, international economic integration; actively form joint ventures, associations, expand markets, and move towards participating in the global value chain.

The Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee requested the Provincial Business Association to continue to lead enterprises and entrepreneurs in the province to actively participate with Party committees and authorities at all levels in building and perfecting mechanisms and policies to support and encourage production and business development, reform administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment, and accompany the province in attracting investment in the Economic Zone and industrial parks and clusters in the area.

Actively participate in patriotic emulation movements; at the same time demonstrate social responsibility, perform well in social security work, actively participate in hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and gratitude programs; ensure full rights for workers, develop high-quality human resources, contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of people in the province.

On this occasion, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Thai Binh province presented the Provincial Business Association with a banner "Solidarity - Development - Breakthrough - Success". 61 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in production and business, contributing to the development of the Vietnamese business community and the socio-economic development of the province were honored and awarded certificates of merit by the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, VCCI and the Provincial People's Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province presented a certificate of merit to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Business Association.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to entrepreneurs with outstanding achievements.

Leaders of Thai Binh Provincial People's Council awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to business groups with outstanding achievements.

Leaders of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry and leaders of the Provincial Business Association awarded certificates of merit to business groups with outstanding achievements.

At the same time, through the donation activities at the celebration program, the Provincial Business Association presented support to the Fund for the Poor, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Agent Orange Victims Fund of Thai Binh Province and the Fund for the Support of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights of Thai Binh Province with a total amount of 90 million VND.

Ms. Hoang Thi Hong, Vice President of the Provincial Business Association, presented 30 million VND in support to the Agent Orange Victims Fund of Thai Binh province.

Previously, the Provincial Business Association held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate and report to the heroic martyrs at the Provincial Martyrs Temple.
