After a new turning point with Tambour, Jean Arnault innovated another high-end watch line of Louis Vuitton, Escale, on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
Director Jean Arnault elevates iconic watch line
In 2023, Jean Arnault - Louis Vuitton's watch director - surprised watch enthusiasts by renovating the iconic Tambour watch with a luxurious design and exclusive cal. LFT023 movement.
Since this important milestone, Jean Arnault continues his mission of pursuing excellence in craftsmanship, taking the brand's watchmaking field to new milestones in 2024 with the 10th anniversary edition of the Escale watch line.
The Escale watch is a symbol of the Art of Travel - a philosophy that has always been part of the brand's heritage. When travel is not just a destination but a path to self-discovery, the destination is secondary and the journey is the factor that brings many emotions.
Escale is more than just a stopover, it evokes imagination and memories of moments that linger in the mind; that is the essence of modern travel art.
As the pride of the brand in the world of luxury watches, Escale starts with the Escale Spin Time that honors Louis Vuitton's trunk-making heritage to the Escale Cabinet of Wonders trio of watches inspired by the exploratory creative thinking of Gaston-Louis Vuitton - Louis Vuitton's grandson and his Japanese Tsubas collection.
Throughout the journey of development and perfection, Escale watch creations have resonated with complex designs like an artistic masterpiece on the wrist.
Returning in 2024, the 10th anniversary edition of the Escale watch features a minimalist design for everyday wear, yet retains superior craftsmanship and is equipped with an automatic cal.
LFT023 is an exclusive creation of the brand. The brand presents three main versions: silver dial, blue dial and meteorite dial. Each design skillfully conveys the symbols of the Maison's heritage and values.
Unique Highlights
Louis Vuitton has subtly incorporated its trunk-making heritage into the Escale. The minute track is embellished with gold-plated studs, inspired by the fixed outer rims of trunks.
The back of the watch has a serial number, similar to the ID code on each of the brand's trunks.
The lug and barrel-shaped crown design on the Escale watch is also reminiscent of the rounded edges and rivets used to reinforce a chest.
Exclusive movement cal. LFT023
Behind the watch's elegant minimalist appearance is the automatic mechanical movement cal. LFT023. Introduced for the first time in the Tambour models launched in 2023, the cal. LFT023 is the first exclusive automatic three-hand movement designed by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in collaboration with movement specialists Le Cercle des Horlogers.
Cal. LFT023 strictly adheres to the rigorous standards of watch precision and has been certified as a Chronometer by the Geneva Observatory - an organization that plays an important role in the development and certification of precision timekeeping devices, especially mechanical watches.
In particular, the two symbols "Louis Vuitton Paris" and "Fab. en Suisse" also affirm the origin and finishing process of the product at the brand's Le Fabrique du Temp workshop.
The 22k gold micro-rotor, combined with gears, provides exceptionally precise winding with 50 hours of power reserve.
The Essence of Craftsmanship
Available in two rose gold versions with silver and blue dials, the dial finish perfectly replicates the surface texture of the brand’s signature Monogram Canvas. This detail requires a complex creative process, requiring the dexterity and concentration of skilled artisans.
Compared to the previous complicated watch models, this version returns to the original function of the watch with three hands: hour-minute-second. The tip of the titanium second hand is designed with a curve that matches the shape of the dial, increasing the ability to read the seconds accurately without scratching the surface.
The silver dial version of the watch impresses with a calfskin strap with a finish inspired by Nomade leather - a material first introduced by the brand in 1999.
This material will change color over time with its owner, creating a unique mark for each design. The difference of Nomade leather lies in the natural tanning step to ensure the softness and inherent beauty of the leather surface.
Calfskin straps will have a natural color change, helping to bring a unique feature to each design when accompanying the owner.
Crafted from rare materials
In particular, the 10th anniversary edition of the Escale also opens a new standard for watches with a dial design made from meteorite.
The Gibeon Meteorite from Namibia was selected to highlight the contrasting textures and natural mineral color gamut of the extraterrestrial material.
White gold hands and hour markers create a monochromatic symphony of light and shadow, inviting exploration and passionate gazes.
The dial of the Escale watch is made from the Gibeon Meteorite, found in Namibia.
Louis Vuitton has subtly infused the spirit of travel into the Escale watch with superior functionality, suitable for all weather conditions and destinations.
The 39mm diameter is ideal for a wide range of wrist sizes, while the perfectly curved glass surface provides optimal legibility and a user-friendly interface.
