Experts say that in the coming time, if supply improves and tariff issues are resolved, pepper prices may stabilize. However, if the situation does not improve, pepper prices may continue to fall sharply.
In the context of the world market also having fluctuations, experts recommend that closely monitoring the price situation and tax policy is very necessary to ensure stability for the Vietnamese pepper industry.
Vietnam is currently the largest pepper supplier to the US market, accounting for 77% of the total pepper imported by this country. However, with the US imposing a reciprocal tax of up to 46% on Vietnamese pepper, the domestic pepper industry is facing many major challenges.

The US reciprocal tax policy has caused great impacts on the Vietnamese pepper market. While Brazil only has to pay a tax rate of 10%. This not only affects exporting enterprises but also directly impacts pepper farmers, reducing the motivation for production and expanding the cultivation area.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) quickly proposed that the Government negotiate with the US to reduce or postpone the application of reciprocal taxes. In addition, VPSA also requested that the Government adopt appropriate financial policies to support businesses exporting to the US, reduce transportation costs, and stabilize raw material areas in the medium and long term.
In the long term, businesses need to be more proactive and focus more on increasing deep processing; gradually shifting away from raw exports, diversifying markets, reducing dependence on one large market, and avoiding price pressure at peak times.
