On December 17, the People's Committee of An Giang province coordinated with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to organize the opening ceremony and a series of activities of Mekong Connect 2024, including a workshop on developing indigenous resources and local economy through regional linkages in the new competitive context.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Le Van Phuoc - Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee - said that Mekong Connect was first held in 2015 and has become a prestigious annual forum, a solid bridge between the Mekong Delta provinces with Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.
Mekong Connect is not only a place for ideas and initiatives to converge, but also a space for localities, businesses, experts and policy makers to discuss and propose practical solutions to promote sustainable development for the entire region.
The event took place from December 17 to 18, with main activities such as the international green startup festival, livestream sales session, workshop, plenary session of the forum with the theme "Investment capital and human resources for sustainable linkage" and exhibition with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta strengthen linkage, promote internal strength towards sustainable development".
According to Mr. Phuoc, one of the highlights that cannot be missed at the forum is the exhibition space. It is a place that brings together symbols of connection, creativity and sustainable development of the provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City.
The exhibition is not only a place to introduce typical socio-economic values but also a strong action message about regional connectivity and sustainable development in the new competitive context. Each booth also tells a story about the prospects for sustainable cooperation and development of regional internal strength.
"We hope the forum will be an opportunity to exploit the local potential of each locality, strengthen connections, and expand practical cooperation between An Giang province, Ho Chi Minh City, and other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region," said Mr. Phuoc.
