Vietnam - Korea Festival lasts a whole month in Ho Chi Minh City

The Vietnam - Korea Festival has just officially opened at Sky Garden Commercial - Food Street, Tan Phong Ward, District 7 - the event opening a series of cultural - economic activities lasting until January 7, 2025.

On the evening of December 7, at the Sky Garden area, many people and tourists, including many Korean families in Ho Chi Minh City, came to take souvenir photos and experience the Christmas atmosphere within the framework of the Vietnam - Korea Festival.

Colorful art performances, harmoniously combining the traditions and modernity of both countries, opened the festival. Booths with typical Vietnamese and Korean dishes such as banh khot, grilled meat, etc. were prepared by mobile vehicles to serve diners.

The entire Pham Van Nghi street became bustling with diners coming to enjoy the year-end festival atmosphere.

Mr. Lee Shin, a Korean tourist, said that he happened to visit friends in Vietnam, was taken to the festival and enjoyed the atmosphere there.

"The weather is a bit hot compared to the cold in Korea, but the hustle and bustle and lively atmosphere here is much better," said Mr. Lee.

The Vietnam - Korea Festival will take place from December 7, 2024 to January 7, 2025 from 10am to 10pm every day at the Sky Garden commercial and culinary street with many cultural, sports, culinary and commercial activities.

Vietnamese and Korean small and medium enterprises display and introduce typical products from the two countries, promoting cultural and economic connections and exchanges.

Art performances and street music from Vietnam and Korea to welcome Christmas, Countdown program to welcome the new year 2025, Cultural exchange and introduction of traditional costumes from Vietnam and Korea.

People will also have the opportunity to enjoy taekwondo and traditional martial arts performances; check-in and photo-taking activities in a space decorated with bright colors to create a joyful space, attracting both locals and domestic and international tourists.

In particular, the booths introduce a variety of dishes, from traditional to modern, from both Korea and Vietnam, providing a diverse and attractive culinary experience.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lee Nam Kee - Chairman of the Korea - Asia Economic Cooperation Association (KOAECA) - said that with 5 million Korean visitors to Vietnam this year, the tourism, culture and cuisine industries continue to play an important role as a bridge for sustainable development between Vietnam and Korea.

The leaders of the two countries set a goal of soon increasing bilateral trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2025 and 150 billion USD in 2030.

"In the upcoming plan of the Vietnam of Wonder (VOW) program, we plan to bring 1,500 Korean small and medium-sized enterprises to Vietnam to seek investment and cooperation opportunities," said Mr. Lee Nam Kee.

On this occasion, District 7 also has many outstanding events in response to the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week, such as the Muay Thai Rampage program on December 21, the branded goods promotion shopping program from December 24, 2024 to January 1, 2025...

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan - Vice Chairman of District 7 People's Committee, Developing the night-time economy associated with tourism is a key strategy of Ho Chi Minh City, in which District 7, with its advantages of modern infrastructure and unique event spaces, is becoming the center of attracting tourists.

District 7 will continue to operate "Sky Garden Commercial - Food Street" through cultural activities, festivals, and events with separate themes, to attract tourists from all over the world to always choose District 7 when coming to Ho Chi Minh City.

According to statistics, more than 38% of foreigners come from Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China, of which the Korean community accounts for the highest proportion.
