YenBai - Tonight - February 14, in Tram Tau district, Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Decision and award the National Intangible Cultural Heritage certificate for the "Gau Tao" Festival of the Mong people in Tram Tau district, Van Chan district, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Ta Van Long - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and mass organizations of the province; leaders of districts, towns, and cities in the province; leaders of Bac Yen district, Muong La district, Son La province; Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province; leaders, former leaders of Tram Tau district, outstanding artisans, and a large number of people and tourists.

With the efforts in preserving, maintaining and promoting traditional cultural values ​​of Party committees and authorities at all levels from the province to the grassroots; with the respect and love for heritage of ethnic minorities, especially Mong people in Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai and Van Chan districts, Gau Tao Festival is the 8th Intangible Cultural Heritage out of 11 Intangible Cultural Heritages in Yen Bai, honored to be included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Gau Tao Festival is one of the typical beauties, expressing the unique spirituality and beliefs of the Mong people. This is one of the typical festivals expressing the long-standing cultural traditions of the nation, maintained and preserved by the Mong people. Recognizing the importance of cultural heritage, in recent years, Tram Tau district has always paid attention to leading and directing the work of preserving, protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the cause of socio-economic development; considering this an important task, one of the driving forces creating identity and endogenous strength in the development process of the district.

Along with the national intangible cultural heritage of Gau Tao Festival, the population of Du Sam trees in Tram Tau town and Xa Ho commune, Tram Tau district was recognized as a Vietnam Heritage Tree. The recognition of Du Sam trees as a Vietnam Heritage Tree not only contributes to the conservation of gene sources, providing a source of precious wood species for the country, but also has historical, landscape and environmental value, is an eco-tourism destination, raises awareness of forest resource protection, educates and propagates about forest and environmental protection, and educates the tradition of drinking water and remembering its source for generations.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism announced Decision No. 2318/QD-BVHTTDL dated August 9, 2024 of the Minister of Culture - Sports and Tourism recognizing "Gau Tao Festival of the Mong people in Tram Tau district, Van Chan district, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province" in the list of national intangible cultural heritage; The Vietnam Heritage Tree Council announced and awarded the Decision and Certificate of recognition of Heritage Tree to the People's Committee of Tram Tau district for the population of Du Sam trees in Tram Tau town and Xa Ho commune.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Tram Tau District People's Committee Vu Le Chung Anh expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism; Vietnam Heritage Tree Association; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, and unions of the province; and relevant organizations and individuals who have always cared, helped, supported, preserved, conserved, propagated, and promoted the heritage to spread and promote its value, meeting the goal of constantly improving the spiritual and cultural life and happiness index of the people.

To promote the heritage value, representing the three districts of Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai and Van Chan, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tram Tau district pledged to continue to carry out practical activities to promote and practice the heritage with specific actions, step up propaganda and festival promotion associated with the development of community cultural tourism, contributing to making Tram Tau district an attractive destination for tourists; continue to support and create conditions for the Mong people to maintain the organization, teach festivals, preserve traditional rituals; promote the role of the community in preserving and protecting the heritage, especially the young generation, so that this cultural beauty is passed down forever.

Regarding heritage trees, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tram Tau district said that a team will be established to protect, monitor, care for, and collect seeds to propagate and preserve the gene source of the species; widely propagate to the people about the value and raise awareness of responsibility for protecting heritage trees in the community; exploit the values ​​of the population of Du Sam trees recognized as heritage trees in developing ecotourism.

Next was a special art program with the theme "Brilliant colors of Tram Tau" with the participation of more than 600 artisans, singers, professional and non-professional actors performing with many unique music and dance performances, elaborately and professionally staged, recreating the unique cultural beauty of the Mong ethnic group associated with long-standing traditional cultural festivals. The audience also enjoyed the unique Mong flute performance by artisans and actors in a colorful cultural space on the occasion of the beginning of the new spring.

The event of the Ceremony to announce the Decision and award the certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage of the "Gau Tao" Festival of the Mong people in Tram Tau district, Van Chan district, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province has an important meaning, is a great pride not only of the Mong people in Tram Tau district, Mu Cang Chai district, Van Chan district but also of all ethnic people in Yen Bai province. This is also an opportunity to propagate, promote, and widely introduce the content and cultural values ​​of the Gau Tao Festival.
