Detect and handle many violations
According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (Steering Committee 389), in the past year, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit and banned goods in the province has been complicated in many areas.
Therefore, the provincial authorities have synchronously implemented measures to combat, promptly detect, arrest, prosecute criminal cases, prosecute defendants; strictly handle violators, contributing to ensuring political security, social order and safety, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of consumers. In 2024, the provincial authorities organized inspections, detected 1,881 violations, handled 1,758 administrative cases, prosecuted 142 subjects/71 cases, the total amount of money handled and paid to the budget was more than 49.6 billion VND.
As one of the member units of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, the Provincial Police has directed the police of units and localities to focus on grasping the situation, using synchronous professional measures, promptly identifying, proactively advising on preventive solutions, effectively combating all types of crimes and violations of the law in smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods... The Provincial Police force has inspected and detected 186 violations, including violations of criminal handling and administrative handling.
The Provincial Border Guard Command also patrols, inspects and controls all types of vehicles, people and goods entering and exiting the province's maritime border area and the Vung Ro port border gate area; proactively forecasts and grasps the activities of suspected smugglers, trade fraudsters and counterfeit goods.
The unit also closely coordinated with local Party committees, authorities, and functional forces in the area to inspect, arrest, and handle 21 subjects/21 cases; prosecute 3 subjects/3 cases for illegal possession of drugs; and handle 18 subjects/18 cases for administrative violations of transporting minerals of illegal origin and transporting forest products illegally.
In addition, Phu Yen Customs Branch regularly coordinates with Vung Ro Port Border Guard Station, Port Authority and Vung Ro Port Company Limited to grasp information and situation at Vung Ro Port; collect information on the situation of goods and vehicles moving through the area, especially focusing on monitoring ships transporting inland mineral goods. During the year, this unit organized 49 patrols, controls, detected and handled 6 violations of false declaration of tax-exempt subjects.
Fight and prevent effectively
In 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade thoroughly grasped and implemented the directives of the National Steering Committee 389, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. The Department chaired and coordinated with relevant agencies and units to conduct 8 inspections at 100 establishments with production and business activities in the fields managed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade such as: promotion, food safety, industrial explosives, electricity, liquefied petroleum gas. Through the inspection, the unit reminded and guided to supplement and complete production and business records and procedures according to regulations, and did not handle administrative violations.
Mr. Huynh Trang, Director of Phu Yen Market Management Department, Deputy Standing Committee of Provincial Steering Committee 389 said: In the face of the complicated market situation as well as violations of organizations and individuals, last year, Phu Yen market management force organized inspections, controls, detected and handled 1,052 violations; including 49 violations of illegal trading and transportation of prohibited and smuggled goods, 1,002 violations of commercial fraud, the total amount of administrative sanctions and payment to the budget was 14.2 billion VND, the value of confiscated goods was nearly 25 billion VND, the value of destroyed goods was nearly 8.9 billion VND, the value of confiscated and unliquidated exhibits was about 7.4 billion VND.
Promoting strengths and continuing to affirm its role as the main force in the fight against counterfeit goods, smuggling and trade fraud, before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, the market management force also inspected 99 cases, sanctioned administrative violations of more than 1.3 billion VND, and the value of confiscated and unprocessed administrative violation evidence was nearly 13.5 billion VND.
In order to prevent and effectively implement the work of preventing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods occurring in the area, in 2025, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 will continue to deploy and implement plans and directives of the National Steering Committee 389 on the work of preventing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; strengthen close supervision of the market situation, production and business activities of organizations and individuals.
“The Steering Committee also stepped up direction in state management, prevention, suppression, and combating of crimes and violations of laws in the fields of tax, e-commerce, digital business, production, gold trading, gasoline, food safety...”, said Mr. Huynh Trang.
| According to the Provincial Steering Committee 389, in 2025, departments, branches, and member units of the Steering Committee 389 will continue to step up investigation and thoroughly handle cases and incidents of law violations; implement plans to combat tax losses for non-state enterprises in the fields of trade, food and beverage, and services; patrol and control people and vehicles entering and exiting and operating in the province's coastal border areas to take measures to combat, arrest, and promptly handle subjects according to the provisions of law. |
