The 2023 Vietnam-China International Trade Fair is an activity within the framework of the 2023 National Trade Promotion Program organized by the Trade Promotion Agency - Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province in coordination with the Honghe Chau Trade Department, the People's Government of Hekou district, Yunnan province (China).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China) are two localities sharing a border and having a long-standing traditional friendship.
Over the years, the Lao Cai - Yunnan cooperative relationship has always been fostered and consolidated by the Provincial Party Committee, Government and People of the two provinces, developing strongly under the motto "Friendly neighbors, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, towards the future". And the spirit of "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, good partners" that the senior leaders of the two countries have set forth. Together we strive to become a model of friendly cooperation between localities of Vietnam and China, contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China in the new era.
Over the years, both Lao Cai and Yunnan have continuously made efforts and cooperative initiatives to promote each other's socio-economic development.
Import and export turnover through the Lao Cai-Hekou border gate pair has increased rapidly. According to statistics, the export turnover between Yunnan and Vietnam in 2022 was 3.25 billion USD, the trade turnover in the first 9 months of 2023 was 1.88 billion USD, and the number of tourists passing through the border gate increased by an average of over 20% per year. Cooperation in the fields of agriculture, education, health, culture, sports, crime prevention and control, and ensuring border security and order between the two sides has achieved many good results.
The trade fair, jointly organized by Lao Cai and Yunnan provinces since 2001, has become one of the important trade promotion activities.
The scale of the fair has been constantly expanded, the quality of the fair has been increasingly improved and has attracted the participation of other countries. The fair is not only meaningful for economic and trade exchanges between Lao Cai and Yunnan provinces but also a bridge to promote cooperation and development between provinces and cities on the "Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh" economic corridor, provinces and cities of Vietnam with the Southwest region of China.
At this fair, there are a total of 529 standard booths and 88 exhibition areas, including: China has 156 standard booths of 109 enterprises from 8 provinces and cities of China and 44 exhibition areas. The third country has 24 booths of 11 enterprises from 8 countries.
On the Vietnamese side, there are 349 standard booths of 165 enterprises from 50 provinces/cities in the country and 44 exhibition areas.
In addition, this Fair also has: Ornamental Plants Exhibition Area - 1,200m2; Car Exhibition Area: 1,450m2; "Dien Viet" Exhibition Area 245m2; Lao Cai Tourism Exhibition Area: 120m2; Hong Ha Chau Tourism Exhibition Area: 120m2 and Food Court is 560m2.
Within the framework of the fair, there were also activities such as: economic and trade cooperation talks between Lao Cai and Yunnan provinces; Trade connection conference and signing of economic contracts between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises. Within the framework of the conference, 84 enterprises from Vietnam and China participated in signing economic contracts with a value of nearly 500 million USD.
In addition, on this occasion, the Chinese delegation also surveyed industrial production facilities, border economic zones and key tourist areas of Lao Cai province.
