TKV Group leaders work with Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee

Lam Dong is a strategic location of TKV.

On April 12, the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee had a working session with the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (TKV) on continuing to promote investment activities, production development and business in the group's area.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc - Acting Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Ngo Hoang Ngan - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of TKV Board of Members co-chaired the Conference. In addition, there were also the participation of Mr. Tran Dinh Van - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Lam Dong province; Mr. Vo Ngoc Hiep - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; together with representatives of the leaders of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Party Committee Office; Directors of the Departments: Planning and Investment, Natural Resources and Environment, Construction, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc - Acting Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Ngo Hoang Ngan - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members of TKV Group chaired the conference.

On the side of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group, there were members of the Board of Members, TKV executives, Lam Dong Aluminum Company's Board of Directors and Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum Complex Project Management Board.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tien Manh - Deputy General Director of TKV reported on the group's production, business and investment activities in Lam Dong province. Accordingly, TKV has completed the construction and put into commercial operation 2 projects in Lam Dong province including Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum Complex Project and Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Plant Project.

TKV always identifies Lam Dong province as a strategic location to continue investing in resource exploration and development and investing in new bauxite - alumina projects, in order to further enhance the group's production and business value, as well as actively contribute to the local socio-economic development.

For the Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum Complex Project with a capacity of 650,000 tons of aluminum/year with a total investment of 15,414 billion VND, it was put into commercial operation from October 1, 2013. The project's aluminum products are of high quality and are exported to countries such as India, Korea, Japan, etc. Accumulated to March 31, 2024, the project has produced 6.95 million tons of converted aluminum, paid the budget 5,315 billion VND, created jobs for over 1,000 workers with a current income of over 16.0 million VND/person/month. For the first quarter of 2024, Lam Dong Aluminum Company produced 185,800 tons of aluminum, reaching 28.6% of the 2024 plan, up 3.8% over the same period in 2023; Total revenue is: 933.7 billion VND; expected profit: 10.2 billion VND, reaching 28.4% of the 2024 plan, up 10% over the same period in 2023.

For Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Plant Project: The project has a capacity of 150 MW; total investment of 6,100 billion VND, put into commercial operation since 2016. Accumulated to March 31, 2024, the project has produced 5.39 million kWh of electricity, contributing 1,212 billion VND to the budget.

The two projects have made an important contribution to promoting the socio-economic development of Lam Dong province, contributing to the budget and creating jobs for local people. On the other hand, during the investment and production and business activities, the group and its units have always paid attention to supporting the locality in social security, gratitude, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, COVID-19 prevention, etc. through funding support since the construction of the projects to date with a total amount of over 320 billion VND.

In particular, the success of the Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum Complex Project has been highly appreciated by the Politburo and directed to continue investing in expanding capacity in Conclusion No. 31-KL/TW, dated March 7, 2022 on the development orientation of the bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Promote local economic development

In 2024, TKV assigned Lam Dong Aluminum Company a production and business plan with the following targets: Raw ore output of 4.3 million tons; refined ore output of 1.82 million tons; converted alumina output of 650 thousand tons; revenue of 3,344 billion VND. As of March 31, 2024, all production and business targets reached over 26% of the annual plan.

Up to now, TKV has completed the construction of the overall development project of TKV's bauxite - alumina - aluminum sector until 2030, with a vision to 2045. According to the project content, in Lam Dong province before 2030, TKV will focus on implementing 2 exploration projects and 2 bauxite - alumina projects with a total estimated investment capital of 35,752 billion VND, to serve the expansion and increase the capacity of Tan Rai Alumina Complex to about 2.0 million tons of alumina/year.

To implement this content, Mr. Ngo Hoang Ngan - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members of TKV requested the leaders of Lam Dong province to support TKV in removing difficulties and obstacles in compensation and site clearance, especially thoroughly resolving difficulties related to land acquisition managed by Vinh Tien Company Limited and Vinh Loc Seed Company Limited, in order to have enough area for bauxite mining to supply raw materials for Tan Rai alumina factory to operate stably and continuously, ensuring no interruption in production; recommendations related to resettlement; related to the Land Use Plan after bauxite mining at Tay Tan Rai mine.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoc - Acting Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee affirmed: Lam Dong Provincial leaders always appreciate the attention of the Group's leaders to the locality. Hopefully, today's working session will open up new opportunities in the relationship between the Group and Lam Dong Province; in TKV's production and business activities in Lam Dong Province; as well as open a new development stage for Bao Lam District in the coming time.

The Acting Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee assigned the task to the Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Bao Lam District to closely coordinate with Lam Dong Aluminum Company - TKV and the Management Board of the Lam Dong Bauxite - Aluminum Complex Project to thoroughly resolve difficulties and obstacles in the unit's production and business activities.

Regarding the policy of building an Aluminum Electrolysis Plant and increasing the capacity of the alumina plant line in Bao Lam district, the Acting Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed: This is an issue of local concern to achieve the goal of socio-economic development for the locality; he said that he will be determined to quickly implement it with TKV, and at the same time request the leaders of departments, branches and sectors of Lam Dong province to coordinate in implementing this policy.
