Lam Dong needs to unleash resources to create a breakthrough

On March 3, Inspection Delegation No. 1923 of the Politburo and Secretariat, led by Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, had a working session with the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee.

Participating in the inspection delegation were Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and representatives of a number of Party and Government departments and agencies.

At the working session, the inspection team announced Decision No. 1923-QDNS/TW dated February 14, 2025 of the Politburo on the establishment of the Inspection Team of the Politburo and the Secretariat in 2025 for the Standing Committees of the provinces: Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.

According to Decision No. 1923, the delegation inspected the following contents: The summary of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 of the 12th Party Central Committee "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently" and Conclusion No. 121-KL/TW dated January 24, 2025 of the Party Central Committee on summarizing Resolution 18, associated with the establishment and operation of new Party committees.

Organizing the implementation of Directive No. 35-CT/TW dated June 14, 2024 of the Politburo on Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party and Conclusion No. 118-KL/TW dated January 18, 2025 adjusting and supplementing a number of contents of Directive 35.

Thoroughly implementing and organizing the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

Reporting to the inspection team, Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, said that in March this year, the province aims to sign and approve two expressway projects, Tan Phu - Bao Loc and Bao Loc - Lien Khuong; determined to implement a number of key public investment projects such as Dong Thanh Lake and Ta Hoet Lake.

"The province is also determined to attract investment in a number of projects such as dry ports and logistics areas at Lien Khuong airport, along with the expansion of this airport; calling for investment in 5-star and 6-star hotels; high-class shopping areas to improve the quality of tourism," Mr. Thai said.

In addition, the Chairman of Lam Dong province said that the province is focusing on removing some difficulties and obstacles, proposing solutions for slow-progressing projects, and increasing public investment disbursement. Especially, the problem of overlapping planning areas for exploration, exploitation, processing and use of minerals with 2 highway projects, public investment projects, residential land for people, social security works, etc.

Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee Acting Secretary Nguyen Thai Hoc said that in the first quarter of 2025, the province will establish an interdisciplinary team to review 203 slow-progressing projects in the area. Projects with capable and dedicated investors will continue to be assigned. Projects with incompetent investors will be revoked.

"Some projects that were scheduled to be implemented in 2024 have not been implemented yet, and we must be determined to do them in 2025. These include the Tan Phu - Bao Loc and Bao Loc - Lien Khuong expressways. Right from the beginning, in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Council, the province determined that this year it must grow by 9 - 10%. This is the responsibility and determination of the Party Committee, government and people of Lam Dong province," Mr. Thai Hoc affirmed.

Attract investment for development

At the Conference, the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee also reported on the implementation of the Central Committee's resolutions, directives and conclusions within the content of this inspection.

Concluding the Conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and the comprehensive and detailed report of the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh directed that Lam Dong needs to continue promoting the achieved results, at the same time focus on removing bottlenecks, promoting economic growth; continue to update new situations, new spirit, new thinking in building congress documents, documents must be built feasible, specific, clear. The province needs to renew traditional growth drivers, seek and promote new growth drivers, promote the different potential, outstanding advantages of Lam Dong and remove bottlenecks.

"If Lam Dong has any bottlenecks, they must be resolved soon. Focus on promoting public investment, "bait" for investment, attract investment for development. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to mobilizing and unleashing the abundant resources among the people with appropriate policies so that 2025 must be a breakthrough year for the province," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

According to Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the existing runway of Lien Khuong airport It is 3,260m long, but due to the thin air, it can only accommodate A320 and smaller aircraft.

Therefore, Lam Dong province proposed that instead of just repairing the runway, the province will promote working with investors, propose to the Government a plan to build a new, longer runway, then return to repair the old runway. According to him, for aviation security reasons, it must be accepted, "but if for other reasons the airport is closed for 6-8 months for repairs, all development of Lam Dong will be greatly limited."
