At this year's festival, one of the highlights is the ceremony to receive the certificate of recognition as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree for the population of 9 Indian Rosewood trees from Huong Tra village (locally known as Sua trees).

The tree still has the same shade shape that has been familiar for hundreds of years, but at the 2024 festival, many people can be seen admiring and taking souvenir photos with the heritage tree.

Mr. Nguyen Quang An - a resident of Huong Tra village expressed his great honor for the local people when the village's 9 ancient Dalbergia tonkinensis trees were recognized as "Vietnam Heritage Trees".

“The more honored and proud each Huong Tra resident is, the more they recall their ancestors from the time of King Le Thanh Tong who opened the country and chose Huong Tra land to settle down.

The ancestors of Huong Tra village chose the resilient and easy-to-grow Sua tree to plant on the banks of the Tam Ky River to block storms and strong currents during the rainy season, protecting lives and property. The festival is a source of happiness for the people of Huong Tra,” said Mr. An.

Sharing joy and welcoming the efforts of Tam Ky City in organizing the festival, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu said that "Tam Ky - Sua Flower Season" is an opportunity for Tam Ky tourism to develop, contributing significantly to the process of effective, fast and sustainable socio-economic recovery and development of the province and city.

In the coming time, Tam Ky needs to focus on building a green, friendly and safe tourism environment; maximizing its potential and advantages, promoting development linkages, and making Tam Ky the southern tourism core of the province.

After 3 main festival days, unfortunately the Su trees along the Tam Ky river have not yet bloomed for visitors from afar to admire. But the festival is still going on and the cool Huong Tra eco-tourism village is always waiting for visitors. The heritage trees - ancient Su trees of Huong Tra village are in bud a lot, surely they will bloom in the near future...
