According to Ms. Dang Thi Hong Lam - Vice Chairman of the Town People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Town Steering Committee, La Gi was chosen by the Provincial Steering Committee as a pilot for the province to achieve the target of 3 districts and towns completing, striving to complete housing support for all households eligible for benefits by April 30. With a pioneering role, La Gi has implemented many practical solutions demonstrating the highest determination in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. According to the approved project of the province, the whole town has 2 poor households and 7 disadvantaged households in need of housing support. By the end of March, the program had made encouraging initial steps when 5 households had started construction. With this progress, the local government believes that the plan will be completed on time, helping households have solid roofs before the rainy season this year.

According to the plan, the 2025 housing support program will focus on two key tasks: Supporting housing for people with revolutionary contributions and eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for people. The program will be implemented synchronously from the town to each ward and commune with the motto "leaving no one behind". Beneficiaries include people with revolutionary contributions, poor households, near-poor households and other disadvantaged households in the area. However, to ensure fairness and avoid duplicate support, the program will not apply to households that have received houses from other projects and policies.

Community collaboration

The identification of temporary and dilapidated houses is also strictly implemented according to the regulations of the Ministry of Construction. Housing eligible for support must be built on legal land, not located in areas at risk of landslides or project planning. At the same time, households must have permanent residence in La Gi and have never received housing support from previous programs. Regarding the level of support, for poor, near-poor and other disadvantaged households, the support level is 60 million VND/newly built house, 30 million VND/repaired house. The funding source for implementation comes from the 2024 budget savings, the Gratitude Fund, the Fund for the Poor and contributions from the community and businesses. The Town People's Committee also encourages localities to mobilize support for working days and materials to increase the value of the project, helping households that are unable to pay to still be able to build houses.

One of the special features of the program is the cooperation of the whole community. Not only a policy of the State, the housing support program in La Gi is also a humanitarian movement, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity of the whole society. Local authorities play a key role in directing, reviewing the list of households in need of support, arranging funding sources and monitoring the implementation progress. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town and organizations such as the Women's Union, Youth Union, and Veterans Association actively mobilize resources, calling for contributions from organizations, businesses and people. Local people also demonstrate the spirit of mutual love and support by contributing labor and effort to help disadvantaged households build houses. When completed, the houses supported for poor, near-poor and other disadvantaged households will be marked with the sign "House of Great Solidarity", demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and support, the cooperation of the whole society.

It can be affirmed that the program “Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses” not only brings solid homes but also symbolizes care, gratitude and social responsibility. With new houses built, poor families will have more hope and motivation to stabilize their lives and escape poverty. When each person has a solid home, it is not only the foundation for them to build a better life but also a testament to a united, humane and sustainably developed society.
