(PLVN) - Yesterday (February 27), at the Government headquarters, the Government Standing Committee Conference worked with Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the theme "Constructive State, Vietnamese SMEs Breakthrough in the New Era".
In addition to Government leaders, the event was attended by leaders of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, a number of industry associations, and representatives of 150 SMEs and 20 commercial banks.
Previously, on August 22, 2024, General Secretary and President To Lam also had a meeting with the delegation of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.
After nearly 40 years of innovation, especially innovation in economic thinking, the Party's viewpoint on private economic development has always been consistent and increasingly improved, contributing to promoting the development of this sector. Especially at the 12th Congress (January 2016), our Party strongly and decisively affirmed the role of the private economy as an important driving force of the economy; including SMEs.
Since then, in terms of legal institutions, it must be noted that there have been great strides in perfecting and ensuring transparent and effective implementation of policies to support the development of Vietnamese SMEs; promoting the start-up movement, innovation, etc.
Along with the economic accumulation process, thanks to the innovation policy, the premise has been created to form mixed-ownership private economic units, including capital contributions to state-owned economic groups with strong potential, competitive enough to participate in production networks and regional and global value chains.
Vietnam has had many successes in creating an environment of equal and healthy competition among economic sectors; in the spirit that all enterprises of all economic sectors must operate according to market mechanisms and be equal before the law.
We are pleased to see that, accounting for over 98% of the total number of enterprises in the country, SMEs are an important force contributing to economic growth, with about 50% of GDP and 35% of total annual state budget revenue, creating jobs and income for over 50% of workers. Many SMEs have become famous brands, not only domestically but also effectively participating in the global supply chain.
On October 10, 2023, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era. This is a source of inspiration, encouragement, and motivation for Vietnamese enterprises and entrepreneurs, including Vietnamese SMEs.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and the Government Standing Committee brought new vitality to the SME community. Certainly, the “bottlenecks” and “bottlenecks” will be removed; new tasks and solutions will be created; with the spirit of working together, enjoying together, winning together, developing together; contributing to the success of the country in the era of rising up.
