This is not only an opportunity for the public to admire the works of art, recognizing the great contributions of the late painter Huynh Phuong Dong on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth (April 22, 1925 - April 22, 2025), but also carries a profound message about the connection between the past and the present, between the generations that have passed and those who are continuing the path of building and developing the country.
In the exhibition Huynh Phuong Dong's Journey at the Ho Chi Minh City Exhibition Hall, the Organizing Committee selected and displayed 300 works from the treasure trove of nearly 3,000 works that he left behind with diverse themes and materials. The exhibited works represent a journey from the resistance war against France and America to after the renovation.

The works in this exhibition are displayed according to the following themes: Cluster of soldiers-battlefield, portraits of male soldiers, activities in the war zone, detailed activities of soldiers, portraits of female soldiers, mother-child, medical-logistical activities of female soldiers, "untitled" cluster of works, liberation paintings, flower paintings, displaying the memory space of artist Huynh Phuong Dong...
In particular, delegates and the public were also able to enjoy the entire sketch of the lacquer painting of Dong Nai in 2000, consisting of 3 panels measuring 1.2m x 2.4m each combined... according to the idea of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, and the complete painting is currently being kept by Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee.

Through the exhibition, those who have experienced the fire of war will find in his works a part of their own memories and youth, recreated through solid strokes and strong shapes like the indomitable spirit of the nation.
Meanwhile, those living in peacetime will see images of their homeland, of previous generations, and find inspiration to live life to the fullest with passion and ideals.
According to Ms. Doan Thi Trang, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Museum, the exhibition "Huynh Phuong Dong's Journey" is one of the exhibitions in a series of exhibitions about the soldier and painter Huynh Phuong Dong in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to introduce typical and special works of the late painter Huynh Phuong Dong - depicting touching, noble and humane stories along with images bearing the mark of the journey through wartime to reach the day of peace and independence.

“We believe that the exhibition will leave in the hearts of the public unique emotions for each journey that the late artist has gone through,” Ms. Doan Thi Trang shared.
The series "Huynh Phuong Dong Journey" is considered the largest exhibition about painter Huynh Phuong Dong to date, selecting and displaying more than 700 representative works throughout the late painter's career.
The second exhibition at the Ho Chi Minh City Exhibition Hall will run until May 28. Previously, "Huynh Phuong Dong's Journey" was held at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition is scheduled to continue at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts from April 11 to April 30.
