According to Mr. Vu Duc Giang - Chairman of VITAS, 25 years is an important milestone marking the maturity and achievements, contributions of VITAS to the development of the industry, as well as development orientation for 2025 and the next period.

From mainly serving domestic consumption, with a very small export turnover compared to Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc., Vietnam's textile and garment industry has now risen to become the third largest exporter in the world, after China and Bangladesh. The domestic market has also increased from over 300 million USD to about 4.5 billion USD over the past 25 years.

"In particular, the association has played a good role as a bridge between textile and garment enterprises and the Government, ministries, branches and localities to reflect on difficulties in policies, administrative procedures, specialized inspections, taxes, customs, wages, insurance, etc.

At the same time, participate in building support policies and facilitating trade for businesses; participate in Government negotiation delegations on free trade agreements" - Mr. Vu Duc Giang said.

Vietnam's textile and garment import and export turnover has grown impressively over the past 25 years.

In 2024, Vietnam's textile and garment export turnover is estimated to reach 44 billion USD, up 11.26% compared to 2023; import turnover is estimated to reach 25 billion USD, up 14.79%; trade surplus is 19 billion USD, up 6.93% compared to 2023.

According to Mr. Truong Van Cam - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of VITAS, implementing the Textile, Garment and Footwear Industry Development Strategy, from now until 2030, the industry will gradually shift from rapid development to sustainable development. From 2031 - 2035, develop sustainably and effectively according to the circular economic model; complete the domestic value chain and participate in a high-value position in the global supply chain.

"In the new phase, with the role of leading the Vietnamese textile and garment industry, VITAS will continue to make efforts, focus on intelligence and creativity, and unite with businesses to effectively implement dual transformation solutions to build a sustainable Vietnamese textile and garment brand," Mr. Truong Van Cam emphasized.
