Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Dung delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Delivering a speech commemorating the 1085th anniversary of Ngo Quyen's coronation and establishment of the capital in Co Loa, Chairman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Dung said that since the 3rd century BC, Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong had united Au Viet and Lac Viet to establish the Au Lac state, choosing Co Loa as the capital. Co Loa became a complex of Imperial City - Military City - City, the first political, military, economic and cultural center of our country.

1085 years ago, after the glorious victory, defeating the Southern Han army on the Bach Dang River, in the spring of 939, King Ngo Quyen proclaimed himself king, established the Ngo Dynasty, chose Co Loa as the capital, with the meaning of continuing the nation-building career of the Hung Kings, An Duong Vuong, creating a great turning point in history, completely ending the period of Chinese domination that lasted more than 1,000 years, opening the era of development of an independent, autonomous nation, on the land of Vietnam. King Ngo Quyen has been honored by history as the founder of the Vietnamese nation.

Many traditional cultural and artistic activities at the celebration of 1085 years since King Ngo Quyen established the capital in Co Loa.

To show respect and deep gratitude to commemorate the great contributions of King Ngo Quyen, Dong Anh district proactively proposed the location and site for the construction of the Temple and was unanimously approved by the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee and People's Council, with an investment policy of more than 298.4 billion VND.

Once completed, the festival of Ngo Quyen proclaiming himself king and establishing the capital in Co Loa will become an annual traditional cultural festival, held on the 12th day of the third lunar month, with the meaning of continuing the national legacy, expressing the will to continue the cause of building and defending the country during the Van Lang - Au Lac period, right after the death anniversary of Hung King on March 10.

“The ceremony to celebrate the 1085th anniversary of King Ngo Quyen's coronation and establishment of the capital in Co Loa, held at Ngu Trieu Di Quyen Communal House - Co Loa Special National Relic Site, is an activity to concretize the Resolution of Party Congresses at all levels on continuing to preserve, conserve, embellish and develop traditional culture.
