Specifically, of the area of Ngoc Linh ginseng planned to be planted in 2025, 60 hectares will be planted by the people (15 hectares in Dak Glei district, 45 hectares in Tu Mo Rong district); the remaining 1,500 hectares will be planted by enterprises such as Ngoc Linh Kon Tum Ginseng Joint Stock Company, Vingin Joint Stock Company, Ngoc Linh Tu Mo Rong Ginseng Joint Stock Company and Dak To Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. Through working with the relevant authorities, the enterprises currently plan to sow and grow more than 15.2 million seedlings, enough to meet the 2025 crop target.
To develop Ngoc Linh ginseng according to plan, the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee proposed solutions such as encouraging enterprises with ginseng planting investment projects to speed up the planting progress according to projects approved for investment policy; promoting forest leasing and forest environment leasing for ginseng and medicinal herbs cultivation according to Article 248 of the 2025 Land Law; urgently submitting to competent authorities for decision to expand the geographical indication area of Ngoc Linh ginseng to a number of suitable areas.
In particular, to protect the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand, the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee requested relevant agencies to strengthen the management of Ngoc Linh ginseng varieties according to the provisions of the Law on Cultivation and other relevant regulations; strictly handle violations, strengthen gene identification (DNA) of Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings, and firmly control the number of seeds harvested annually.
In Kon Tum, the planned area for growing Ngoc Linh ginseng is approximately 17,000 hectares; of which, over 8,800 hectares are planted under the canopy of special-use forests, over 4,150 hectares of protective forests, and over 4,000 hectares of production forests. Currently, although over 8,800 hectares of special-use forests are very suitable for growing Ngoc Linh ginseng, this is a strictly protected area so it cannot be transferred or leased due to policy mechanisms.
According to statistics, the accumulated area of Ngoc Linh ginseng cultivation by the end of 2024 is about 2,922 hectares, reaching 64.9% of the target of the Resolution of the 16th Provincial Party Congress; of which, more than 333 hectares are planted by the people.
